If Terry COULD see, he would have asked why everyone was staring at his ears. Or, perhaps he wouldn't, because the sensations he felt quickly would have answered the question. He felt them climbing upward on his head. Then, slowly, the world got louder. A lot louder. He could hear his friends' heartbeats, which rushed a bit faster than usual considering what was happening before their eyes...
Eyes. Yes, his ears were now acting as his new eyes. Picking up minute sounds and reverberations he never knew existed. A thought entered his mind; Maybe he could use his voice like sonar to detect objects and where his friends were in the room. He drew a short breath and gave a yell.
A deafening screech exited his mouth, prompting everyone to cover their ears. They had no sooner witnessed Terry's ears grow to eight times their normal size and take the shape of a bat's ears than a bat-like howl set itself upon their eardrums. After the short outburst was over, several of them shook their head to make the ringing stop.
"Shit, Terry! Don't do that again!" Dave yelled.
"Sorry," Terry's voice sounded almost the same, but traces of an irritating squeal accompanied it. "I didn't expect to sound like that."
"So your eyesight is gone, but to be fair the game gave you a bat's ears and vocal cords?" Tom mused.
"If you could call it fair, yeah. Now I can't see to move my guy."
"Don't worry, Terry, I'll move it for you," Sue consoled. "Seeing as that was my fault anyway." She placed the dice in Terry's outstretched palm.
"Could this get any weirder?" he asked as he rolled his dice.
Another gasp from Sue and a moment to calculate which space Terry was going to land on prompted Hannah to say "I think we're about to find out."
Terry had rolled three, causing a short spurt of growth in Sue's hair. "I've got to get used to that," she gasped. She moved Terry's piece to the proper square.
"What does the card say?" Terry asked.
"Actually, your space doesn't say to draw a card. It's a yellow square."
"Uh-oh. I read about those in the rulebook," Trace explained.
"What does it do?" Tom asked.
