After the eventful after show at the cinema, Maggie and Taylor, hand-in-hand, ventured into downtown, proceeding to look for a nice place to eat – ideas and discussions ranging from a mom and pop shop to a fast food place to that cosy little restaurant on the corner – when the duo runs into the other happy couple, Michael and Janice.
“Oh, Maggie!” Michael greeted them, “Good to see you! Are you two having fun?”
Maggie nodded at that and gestured to the other couple, “Yeah! Are you two also having fun?”
“It got a bit boring with the nearby tour guide speaking in a dead man’s monotone voice, but it was overall good.” Janice shrugged.
“Good to hear that.”
“And where are you two lovebirds off to now?” Michael inquired at that.
“We were considering what to eat and where after the movie finished…still are actually.” Taylor explained.
“Well, then why not join us for a meal together…if you’re okay with that?” Michael looked at Janice, who replied that she had no problems with the two girls joining them for a bit.
“Oh, we wouldn’t want to-”
“Nonsense!” Janice waved that away, “It’ll make dinner way more fun! Any thoughts, you two?”
“Nope, just can’t narrow it down.” Taylor shrugged.
“Well, how about that small new restaurant? I heard it’s breadsticks are really good.” Michael pointed to some French-Italian place down the road.
“Sure, I’m cool with that.”
“Well, it can’t hurt to try.”
“Foods food.”
So, the couple of couples trudge down to the new restaurant, but, this being a weekend evening, the restaurant is packed with families, friends and such. The tired hostess said that wait time is 40 minutes at best with 120 minutes average. Michael and Janice are considering which other eatery they should go to, while the two teens looked towards the main part of the restaurant, taking note that several tables are free of dishes and food, but its occupants are still just sitting there and talking, at best, or ignoring the other, at worst.
Taylor leaned closer to Maggie and whispered, “Should I at least get those who are sitting for the sake of sitting to go away?”
Maggie mulled over Taylor’s words, “Only the really jerky ones. No need to send the nice ones enjoying a nice night out away.”
Taylor nodded and got to work, freeing up three tables within a timespan of 10 minutes. The hostess could only blink in surprise at this turn of events, “Well, guess we have a table for your party, after all. It will take a minute to clean up, so, if you can just wait a bit more….”
“Well, 10 minutes is better than a 120 of them.” Michael and Janice looked happy that they wouldn’t have to search for a new place to eat after all, the girls sharing a conspiratory look behind them. The hostess could only agree as the busboy got to work on the tables quickly, before soon allowing the hostess to bring them to their table and giving them the menus.
