Makenna cracks a small smile when she responds, "Why don't we stop by Mark's?"
Mia excitedly nods, that would be fun! After all she really likes Mark. Except isn't there something special about that? Yes, she's sure of it there's a big girl way she likes him. But why can't she remember what that's supposed to be?
"Everything all right Mia?"
Shifting awkwardly in the booster seat, Mia mumbles, "Yeah, I'm fine. But what are we gonna tell Mark?"
"I'll just say I'm babysitting you."
Mia rankles at that suggestion. She's not a baby! She opens her mouth the argue, but is distracted by her food arriving. Her misgivings are put aside as she quickly starts eating her favorite meal; chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. Makenna laughing draws Mia's attention.
Through a mouthful of food Mia says, "Wha?"
"Don't talk with your mouth open and be careful you're going to stain your dress," responds Makenna as she uses a napkin to clean a few pieces of macaroni off Mia's chest, "I don't need to get you a bib do I?"
Mia fumes at that suggestion, but the feeling of being chastised locks her into to an embarrassed silence. She eats the rest of her food quietly and doesn't complain while Makenna wipes her face clean.
After paying Makenna starts leading the way to Mark's house. Mia instinctively takes a hold of Makenna's hand and skips along as they walk. They eventually arrive at the house, Makenna knocks and Mark opens the door.
"Oh hi. Makenna what are you doing here?"
"Sorry to drop in without calling, but do you still have my algebra textbook?"
"Uhh I think so come on in I'll go check," he notices Mia as they step in, "Who's this?"
"Just a kid I'm babysitting. Don't worry she's well behaved."
Mia frowns, she doesn't like them talking about her like she's not there. She tries to say something but neither teen is paying attention to her. They just keeping talking about that algebra thing she's never heard of. After a few minutes of this...
