“Come on Jen; we need to help the other students, who did you have contact with before this?” Ashley said sounding a little exasperated.
It was weird hearing her friend speaking underwater, it sounded a bit muffled, but Jen tried to focus “well I was talking with you, and the other girls from the cheer squad this morning; and I guess we can’t rule out anyone in our first class, and finally I would say Ms. Murphy.”
“d-do you remember what the other girls dressed up as this morning? And can you remember anyone in our class wearing any costume other than us?”
“I think Debbie was a dog, Chloe and Anne were doing a theme, I want to say it was Knight and Damsel in distress or Knight and Dragon but I can’t remember completely I might have been a little distracted with the call this morning. I don’t think anyone else in class was wearing anything. And Ms. Murphy wasn’t.”
“that sounds about right. Anyways I think we need to get out of here. This curse is to dangerous to be around so many people.”
In the distance they began to hear something down the hall. It sounded like chains rattling.
The girls stopped talking for a moment to try and pin point what was making the sound.
The halls were quiet. They poked their heads out of the nurse’s office and looked down the halls… they were empty. As they looked they noticed a few of the lights were flickering.
The girls were getting concerned; the sound of chains rattled again this time a bit louder.
“Jen, I think we need to go right now!” Ashley whispered to her friend.
“What is it? Did you see something?” Jen asked back a bit to loud for Ashley’s liking.
Again the chains were rattling this time it wasn’t that far away from the door. Once again they peeked out the door. A couple of the lights just outside of the office were flickering but there was nothing outside.
“Jen Lets go now. Something is here! Something we can’t see. We need to run right now!” Ashley said panic rising in her voice.
“Lets go!” Jen yelled not caring who was there or if it was a mistake.
Both Ashley and Jen bolted out the door.
They were still unable to see what was behind them but they knew once they started running something was after them. The sounds of the chains echoed behind them, the Chains were shuffling around as if following the girls. And to make it more obvious that something was following them the lights were dimming and going out just behind the girls.
“Where… are we… going” Ashley gasped out, feeling the weight of the helmet straining her.
“Outside, maybe it can’t deal with the sun!” Jen said trying to think as her pursuer was slowly gaining ground.”
Suddenly Jen felt a rush of air as a semi translucent chain shot out from behind her aiming towards Ashley.
“Ashley Jump to your left” Jen yelled
Ashley glanced back and her eyes bugged out as she saw the chain.
