Where's Megan?
Will peered into the room and saw Megan's laptop sitting on the table. She was the computer wiz and he figured she was surfing the net or working on one her projects. He saw nothing else and shook his head. He figured she was somewhere else in the house and left for the kitchen.
Megan sat absolutely quiet when she saw Will look in. She looked down and realized she couldn't see herself. It was hard to contain herself as the revelation that Will could not see her. She wanted to move but knew she would attract Will's attention if the chair suddenly moved. She fought the building elation to stay still and sighed when Will turned away. She sighed when he was no longer in the doorway.
"Megan?" Will asked. Megan froze again and looked to see Will appear in the door. "Oh, great," she thought. Will came into the room and looked around. Megan was terrorized he would come and sit in the chair or even look at the laptop and learn about Chronivac. "what if he looked at the emitter or hit a key on the computer?"
Will approached the desk and looked around. It was obvious Megan was here. "She's probably upstairs or in the kitchen," he concluded. He turned around. Megan closed her eyes in relief and breathed slowly, staying as quiet as possible. Will left the den, closing the door behind him, leaving Megan alone in the office.
Megan opened her eyes and looked at herself, well, she looked for herself. She stood up, making the chair creak slightly. She froze, hoping Will had not heard it. Her foot prints were visible in the deep pile carpet. She giggled and felt an sense of freedom. She moved around finding it amazing how dimples appeared on the carpet with each step. She waved her hand in front of herself and even fanned her face. She didn't see a thing. She could touch her arms, her face, her torso and legs. It was eerie how she couldn't even see her fingers reach for her body and suddenly feel them there. She decided she was still normal despite the lack of visibility.
"Megan, where are you?" she heard through the door. Megan paused, hoping Will would not re-enter the den. She then heard him climbing up the stairs. Megan turned her attention to the computer and looked at the screen. It read, "Transformation complete. Click Save to extend to full transformation period. Click Cancel to reverse transformation." Megan wondered what the save button did. The screen also showed a countdown showing 50 minutes remaining on it and stated the transformation period was 4 hours. She had not been invisible for three hours and wasn't sure what 50 minutes was for. She had lots of questions and wanted even more time to explore this Chronivac device and software.
However, with Will in the house, she knew she had to be careful. The house had lots of hardwood floors, so she could prance around without him knowing. she was curious and apparently she could be seen. "If only he wasn't looking for me," she sighed. She thought of her cell phone. It was in her purse which was on the kitchen table. "I could tell him I've stepped out for a walk," she told herself. She looked at the computer contemplating her next move.
