Jeff's thought trailed off as his forehead began to shrink, and with it, the brain inside it began to change, parts of it shutting down, being repurposed, or otherwise vanishing. With it, his sense of self began to fade.
His eyes glazed over, as if windows on a house, and someone was turning out the lights. He was still happy...but as the seconds passed, he was no longer happy because he'd become a pet...the idea of the Chronivac and change was not something his mind could comprehend any longer. He was happy for much more basic reasons.
While Jeff had been counting on aspects of history to change, he'd set the Chronivac to swap the roles of humans and dogs. That meant the world that he'd created would be very similar to the one before, with similar levels of technology and culture.
In this reality, Jeff was the only member of his family living in the house. His mother was owned by a different family. And he'd never met his younger sister, who had been given away as well.
But dog families were coming together, after being long separated. Thus was the case for Jeff's new family...
