Rainbow no longer had a sense of time....at least not as a matter of days, weeks, or months...she only knew that her two babies no longer needed her. Her body started to adjust, the telltale signs of a pregnant human were beginning to fade, her breasts no longer full of milk. And no one had seen her act in any way irritable, as she'd been when she arrived.
Her two babies were only eight weeks old when the dogs started to separate them. First taking away the girl. Rainbow spotted a young dog and her parents taking her daughter away. Had someone tried to do that two months ago, Rachel would have been devastated, and fought. However, this was normal now. In a short while, they would all adjust to being apart.
The same couldn't be said for the young dog who had taken her away. Two months earlier, she had never known her father, and had not seen her mother since they'd been separated. Now, both her parents surrounded her as she tried to pick out a name for her new human.
Like the many humans born in the last two months, Rainbow's daughter didn't have any memories of the before time. Those who'd been alive before might have the occasional recollection of the old world...something their minds could barely comprehend. But it would not be many years before there was no one left who remembered any of it.
