Josh doesn’t quite understand the feeling he felt. He never expected to be in this situation. Although his family tried to normalize Josh’s condition and encouraged him that could eventually marry if he wanted to, Josh never expected to ever be in a relationship.
All he knew now was that he had to act. Josh looks over and clumsily kisses Alex. To Josh’s excitement, Alex leans in. Although only a few seconds pass Josh feels like it’s been a few hours. His heart beating fast, Alex leans in and pulls Josh into a cuddling position. They sit together, cuddling and holding hands, for the entire movie. Not wanting the moment to end, Josh feels disappointed as the movie ends and the lights turns on.
“I’m so cozy, I don’t want to get up,” Alex said. He looks over and smiled at Josh. “Let’s just sit here like this for a few more minutes.”
“I know, but I think the cleaning people will be a tad weirded out by us just sitting here,” laughed Josh. “But I agree, you know you are so warm, like a radiator,” continued Josh.
“Haha I’m glad you like it, for someone so skinny you’re actually comfortable to rest on,” Alex said with a flirting inflection.
“Wow, what a compliment, you know you’re really good at that,” laughed Josh.
“Hey, I do my best, it’s part of my charm,” laughed Alex.
“Let’s get out of here, the popcorn smell is making me hungry,” said Josh.
“Yeah, plus I really really have to pee now, I’ve been holding it in for half the movie,” winced Alex.
“Okay yeah I’d really prefer you not to pee on the ride back to your car so let’s go,” said Josh.
Alex quickly got up, while Josh pushes his hips out and then up. Then he quickly moves his arms back on each arm rest and pushes himself into a standing position.
“You know I would have just helped you Josh,” Alex said sympathetically.
“Nah I’m good, I’m used to it, just takes me some time, but I don’t need help, but thank you,” Josh said a bit curtly.
“Okay okay sorry, didn’t mean to offend, I just can’t imagine how uncomfortable some things must be for you to do,” said Alex.
“I’m sorry, I was being over-defensive. When people aren’t laughing at me they treat me like I can’t do basic things, it’s so annoying,” Josh admitted.
“Well how about this? If you ever need help, you can always ask me, no judgments. But I won’t offer to help, is that fair?” asked Alex.
“Sounds like a deal,” smiled Josh. “Thanks for dealing with me.”
“Eh, as long as you keep being cute and handsome I think I can manage your idiosyncrasies,” smiled Alex.
“Do you need to use the restroom too?,” asked Alex.
“Oh no, I don’t really use public restrooms. It’s a bit of a process to.. aim, you know? Plus stalls usually are harder for me to get packed back in, so to speak” Josh said sheepishly.
“Ah, okay, that’s a bit of TMI to share on a first date,” laughed Alex. “I’m kidding, of course. about the overhearing. This is definitely a date. Speaking of which, can we do this again?,” asked Alex.
“Y-yes of course!,” said Josh. “I’d love to see you again in-person.”
“Perfect,” smiled Alex.
While Alex went to the bathroom Josh let him know that he was going to grab the car and pull it around. “He called it a date! I’m on an actual date,” Josh smiled ear to ear.
Once Alex got in the car, the two talked and laughed the whole way back. With a quick peck on the lips before getting out of the car, Alex got back into his car and headed home.
“Let’s figure out when we can see each other next,” said Josh.
“Definitely,” smiled Alex.
Josh grinned ear to ear on his way back.
“Oh, you’re home a bit late,” Josh’s mom said as he entered his home.
“Oh yeah, got held up with a last minute…. Study group,” Josh tried to lie.
“Well it must have been a fun study group, you’re grinning like a weirdo,” Josh’s mom teased.
“Oh, ummm, I don’t know what you mean. I’m gonna go upstairs love you,” Josh said quickly trying to change the subject as he tried to run up to his room.
“Dinner will be ready in twenty minutes,” Josh’s mom called.
Josh went to his bedroom and sat on his bed. His phone buzzed.
“Hey man so my parents are out of town next weekend, want to come over and spend the weekend at my place?,” Alex texted.
“Is this a good idea? What do I do,” Josh thought.
