Jessica is quickly flicking through the racks, contemplating and dismissing costume after costume. Before long, one catches her eye:
"Ooh! Look at this, Johnny!" She pulls a large hanger from the rack holding a bulky mass of brown fur, long tubular sleeves tipped with cylindrical rubber caps. "It's like, a two-person... centaur costume or something! My parents have some photo albums from the 80's with amazing Halloween party pictures; I think I remember seeing a shot of them wearing a hilarious two-person horse costume one year!"
You take the hanger from her (it looked heavy, and you find that it IS) and pick up one of the sleeves, examining the rather good-quality fake fur and hoof-caps. You aren't sure how a costume like this was supposed to work, but Jess seemed excited by the idea. She pokes through the folds and fur and shortly comes up with a bag of "extras" that had been hidden under the folded costume.
Her eyes light up as she pulls out a unicorn headband, the horn gleaming under the shop's lights with a pearlescent sheen. "It's a UNICORN costume! Oh, please, Johnny, can we at least try it on here and see what we think??" she begs, clutching the headband and hopping with delight.
"Of course," you agree. "If it's too awkward, we can always look for something else."
Jess lets out a woop "Oh YAY! Thanks, babe! This is gonna be so retro-cool!"
You make your way to the changing rooms, passing your Uncle at the front counter who smiles at your costume choice. "Be sure to use the larger dressing room at the end - that's a big costume!" he says with a wink.
