Incongruity

added A year ago O

You still don't quite get this place. How can people be so nonchalant about letting themselves be changed into a random creature by some unknown power? And have their gender changed, to boot. You're not super-concerned about the gender change, surprisingly enough. You know it will be weird, but if you can go back to being, well, you , when you leave, being a guy around here with people you will probably never see again isn't that much of an inconvenience. You could learn to pee standing up.

But becoming a monster? How would you even be expected to work under those circumstances? A vampire was one thing, at least Liz was still humanoid, but what if you ended up as something totally strange that could not communicate or needed a special environment? Would the company still let you leave? Would you even be able to communicate that you wanted to leave? You start to get a headache from all the worries and decide you need some fresh air.

Walking down the driveway, you decide to head down to the city center. You know Liz offered a tour tomorrow, but you need to sort out your thoughts on your own. As you exit the neighborhood and approach the commercial areas, you are surprised at how "normal" the inhabitants of this strange little place are, given the circumstances.

You see a minotaur chatting with an imp over coffee, while a goblin passes by in a suit with a briefcase. A faun is looking in a shop window and discussing something with what appears to be a harpy. If it weren't for the odd species, you would think you were in any normal town anywhere in the country. Liz did say it was just a physical change, and from what you were seeing, it felt like everyone just went about their relatively boring lives, even though they had changed.

A shadow passes overhead, and you look up to see a humanoid with bat-like wings soaring from the roof of one building to another just as if they were merely crossing the street. You are so absorbed you do not pay attention to where you are walking.

"Oof!" you hear as you stumble into someone.

"I'm sorry, I was distracted!" you quickly apologize as you look towards the person you bumbled into.
