There’s a new permanent display at the Pinebrush History Museum, one that is of particular interest to a lot of people. Apparently their archaeological department discovered an ancient reliquary in the nearby mountains, filled with dozens of intact ceramic burial urns. Each one is coated with enamel glaze and adorned with jewels, depicting the former being whose ashes reside within.
Legends tell that the urns each contain the soul of a demoness who was summoned to the mortal planes by a foul warlock. He sealed them all into the urns, one by one, and stashed them away for safe keeping. The warlock died before he could use any of the urns, but the seals upon them remain to this day. The demonesses, each sealed within their urns, were left to fester and develop, drawing power from the mortal universe now that they were in it. Their powers stockpiled and grew as generations passed, until they each became a Demon Queen of fetishistic powers. However, they could not exercise their powers, for the urns trapped them in perfectly. Only by breaking the urn may the Queen inside be free to wreak havoc and transform the world to their warped tastes.
Now housed in a museum, the urns get to be gawked at by museum guests and scholars alike. Some say they’ve seen one of the urns rattling a little bit, as if something inside wanted out. Of course the museum forbid that anyone touch the exhibits, so the urns remained on their pedestals, unbroken and pristine.
Until one night, a new janitor was mopping the floors after hours. He knocked one of the urns off its pedestal, where it smashed to pieces on the ground. The Demon Queen it held was free, and ready to take over the world!
