You get up and look around, trying to take stock of your situation. So far you're alone, but you don't expect that to last.
You grumble as you pick up some papers that were scattered on the ground near your pod. You flip through them, and one of them catches your eye. It's a warning to the lab you were frozen in. Apparently, this apocalypse was brought on by a virus. The paper says the virus was called the Evo Virus, and it caused people to mutate into monsters, animals, and mythological creatures. According to the paper, if infected people infected others, the virus would regress but it could never be cured.
"Great," you mutter. "Just great. Now what am I supposed to do? Well, first things first. I need to get dressed."
You put on some clothes, some underwear, socks, and long pants. Then you stuff your pockets with as many bottles of water as you can carry. You notice there's a first aid kit, too. You pack that too.
"Okay, now that I've taken care of the basics, I need to figure out where to go to be safe. That's my best chance to survive. I guess I should start by getting out of here."
You open the door and step outside, only to instantly come face to face with a mutated woman.
The first thing you notice is that she isn't wearing any clothes, which lets you see that she is still mostly human. She has dark healthy looking skin and a thick bushy head of hair. She has two extra arms below her normal ones and each of her fingers end in sharp terrifying claws. You also notice that her muscles are abnormally large.
"Whoa," you quietly say to yourself as you take in her bright amber eyes.
"Hello," the woman says to you. She smiles, showing off her sharp fangs. "You must be the new meat."
"What?" you ask her.
"My name is Shawna. My tribe, The Titans, are always on the lookout for new recruits. It's how we cope, and maintain our humanity. It's also how we reproduce." She winks at you. "How would you like to join our family?"
"Um, no thanks," you say.
Shawna smiles at you again, and her amber eyes seem to glow. "I'm afraid you don't have a choice, meat. It's either join us, or we'll kill you."
"Okay," you say. "Okay. I'll join. Just. Just don't hurt me."
Shawna grins at you, and her eyes glow brighter. "Do you have the virus?"
"No," you say. "No, I don't."
Shawna's eyes glow brighter still, and she smiles widely, revealing her sharp fangs. "Good. Then you can help us regain some humanity."
"I don't understand." You stammer. "What do you mean by regain some humanity?"
Shawna grins again, her fangs gleaming. "My tribe are all infected with the Evo Virus. We can reverse our mutations by infecting other humans, and passing on the virus. Eventually, we will begin to mutate again, and that is why finding uninfected humans is so important."
"But you'll run out of people eventually won't you?" You say, shocked at this revelation.
"Eventually," Shawna admits. "But there isn't really an option. If we don't infect others we eventually loose our minds and become what we call 'mind dead'. They are nothing more than mindless monsters driven only by hunger, and lust for blood."
"I see," you say.
"Follow me. There is someone in our tribe, Talia, who is very close to becoming mind dead. She will be the one to infect you." Shawna leads you to a small settlement of tents. As she leads you, you see many others from her tribe. All of them are infected and have mutations ranging from extra arms, to tails, to horns, and wings. Their skin ranges from normal human skin like Shawna's, to thick pelts of fur, to reptilian scales, and even slimy skin. There are also some people with the lower halves of horses, spiders, and snakes. Almost everyone's mutations are very unique.
"Okay," Shawna says. "Talia, I've brought you some new meat," Shawna says as she leads you into one of the tents.
As you enter you see what must be Talia.
