Nina and Spark, walking a mile in the others shoes

added by O A year ago AR AP

"So," Spark smirked. "I want you and your sister to take over the chores around the house. You know, just like Connor does every weekend."

"Okay fine," Nina sighed. "But what are you two going do?"

"I was thinking maybe watch a movie," Spark giggled as she now nuzzled next to Connor. Nina frowned, quickly walking out of the room before returning with a pen and paper. Spark now gave the 13 year old Nina a quizzical look as the girl began to write. "What are you doing?"

"Well," Nina stated. "I'm willing to go along with this but, if I have to be the child than you two are going to have to be the adults. That means doing the things I normally have to do around the house."

Nina now stood before a very adult Connor and Spark, shocked she now had to turn her gaze slightly up to see into her sons eyes. Spark and Connor now gaped as they saw the extensive list the teenage Nina had given them.

"You do all this," Spark exclaimed.

"I certainly do," Nina nodded as she pointed out the various chores. "House cleaning, laundry, polishing Jim's skull, wound care for your father."

Spark and Connor were dumbstruck by this list, completely taken aback by what Nina did for the house. Connor now turned to his father, Jacob giving the group a bored look. "Cmon bro can't you help me out?"

Jacob sighed heavily, placing his beer down before pinching his nose. He always hated dealing with magic but if this exercise would get Nina and Spark on good terms he would go along with it. He just had some conditions.

"Son," he groaned. "Dont call me bro. We clear?" Connor nodded as the elder hunter looked him over. "Look i can't stand watching you two fight. So if this helps ease the tension than so be it. Also yes, since my injuries your mother.."

"Little Nina!"

Jacob furrowed his brow as he turned his gaze to Spark, the grown up fairies outburst was a petty move. "Just Nina," he grumbled, Spark going silent under the hunters steely gaze. "As I was saying, since my injuries your mother, Nina, has been picking up the slack. I'm still pretty banged up. Would be in the hospital still if the vamps hadn't made a move against me. Regardless if Nina and Lisa are gonna be doing your chores than ya'll need to do hers."

"But Jacob!"

"But nothing Spark," Jacob stated. "I'll try to help where I can, Daphne can help too but she has her own chores around the house."

"Jacob you shouldn't push yourself," Nina said quickly, rushing to her husband's side. Jacob now glanced down, a warm smile spreading across his face. Nina had always been his rock, a tough as nails girl who would always take on more responsibility than she needed too. That she was so caring was what had captured his heart. Now though she was just a girl, barely 13 with a round childish face, a waifish body, and long sandy brown hair.

"She looks more like my kid than my wife," he thought sadly. "And she's probably gonna want a kiss like usual but its just too weird."

"I'll be alright Nina," Jacob smirked. "Just don't over do it like ya usually do." Nina chuckled, promising she would try as she now puckered up her lips for a kiss. Instead of the peck she had grown so accustomed too over the years, Jacob gave her an awkward hug before sheepishly rubbing his neck.

"Sorry," he replied meekly, noticing the confusion on Nina's young face. "Its just, well, I mean...your just a youngin right now Nina. It wouldn't be proper."

"No your right," Nina said quickly, trying to put on a brave face. "I mean I'm...only 13 right now. It wouldn't be...right."

Jacob nodded, a grim expression on his face, he already hated this. Nina, though, sensing her husband's sadness now gave him a cheerful smile as she playfully smacked his good shoulder. "Now don't you go being an old grump while I'm outside."

"I promise," Jacob smiled. "Cmon Connor, gonna need some help with this dressing change."

"Um sure bro I mean dad," Connor said quickly, noting the sour look on his fathers face.

Nina sighed, beginning to understand how Spark felt as she turned to Lisa. "So Lisa you ready to see what a farm girl does?"

"Uh no," Lisa exclaimed. "But I don't think I have much of a choice."

As Nina now turned to leave, she caught sight of Spark. The green haired adult now giving the farm girl an odd look. Maybe, they both thought, things weren't so easy for the other.
