Selena Lyall had a problem. She wasn't a werewolf. Well, she actually was, but she still hadn't experienced her first change. She was supposed to have her first shift at age 13 like her two older sisters, but her 13th birthday came and went with no transformation. Now she was 17, almost a woman and yet still not a wolf. She was getting awfully sick of staying home on full moons while the rest of her pack hunted in the forest. Had she just been born without the werewolf gene?
Selena had no clue what to do about her condition until her vampire friend Tatiana suggested she go to the witch's shop where she had all her fang dentistry done. Figuring she had nothing to lose, Selena decided to drop by after school along with Tatiana.
The raven-haired witch smiled warmly at Tatiana as the two girls entered. "Oh hi, Tatiana! How are those fillings holding up?"
"Just great, Morgana," Tatiana responded. "I'm actually here to introduce you to a friend of mine who could use your help. This is Selena Lyall. She's a werewolf... sort of."
Morgana raised an eyebrow. "Sort of?"
If there had been any blood in Tatiana's chalky face, she would have blushed. "She... hasn't exactly shifted yet."
Selena laughed nervously. "Yeeaaah. It's super embarrassing. My sisters tease me like you wouldn't fucking believe, and Mom's worried sick that I might just be a normal human and have to leave the pack next year. Honestly, so am I."
"I offered to turn her into a vampire," said Tatiana, "but she said it wouldn't be the same."
"It was sweet of you to offer, Tats," Selena smiled, "but it can't make me belong with my pack. I'd have to join your moms' vampire clan, or start my own."
Tatiana giggled. "Well, you WOULD make a great sister... or girlfriend. The von Karnstein Clan would be honored to have you. You know, why can't your mom or your dad or one of your sisters just bite you and turn you into a proper werewolf?"
Selena sighed. "Because werewolves don't work that way. Just because vampires can recruit humans, everyone assumes werewolves can do the exact same fucking thing. Well, we can't. Either you're born into the Children of the Moon, or you aren't. There's literally no other way to transform."
"That isn't necessarily true," Morgana grinned. "Magic can work many impossible wonders. I'm quite sure I can find something to bring out your dormant wolfgirl nature."
"Awesome!" chirped Tatiana. "Just what we wanted to hear!"
"You sure this'll work, Tats?" Selena asked warily.
"Totes," the teenage vampire responded. "Once I legit snapped a fang clean off. Look at me now." She grinned flashing her perfect fangs at Selena.
Selena got lost in the gleaming white fangs for a moment, struck by her undead friend's beauty. Tatiana had been pretty vocal over the past few months about having a crush on Selena, but Selena wasn't sure how to tell the pretty vampire girl that she felt the same way. She was pretty crazy about Tats, and she always got along really well with her moms Carmilla and Mircalla (better than with her own family, in a lot of ways), but... Wait, what were they just talking about. Oh, right; magic dentistry. "Y-yeah. That's pretty damn impressive."
"Thanks, Lena!" said Tatiana, grinning broadly. She turned to Morgana. "So, what can you do for her?"
Morgana pondered for a second. "Aha! I have just the thing for a werewolf late bloomer!"
