"I'm sticking with the wolves, Tats," said Selena. "I've been raised to be a werewolf my whole life, and that's what I freaking wanna be. Which way to the wolf habitat?"
Tatiana closed her eyes, magically intuiting the right direction. "This way," the vampire girl said at last, taking Selena by the hand and pulling her town the correct path.
The two girls quickly arrived at a man-made forest sealed off by concrete sculpted and painted to look like a cliff face with fiberglass windows in it. Luckily, it wasn't too busy at the time. Aside from a middle-aged couple that was just leaving to check out the polar bears, the only human around was a janitor emptying a trash bin.
Tatiana walked up to the janitor and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey, can I have a minute of your time, sir?"
The janitor turned around. "Yeah?"
Tatiana's eyes blazed crimson once again, and the sepulchral tones of primal Night's essence returned to the vampire girl's normally cheery voice. "For now, I am your master, mortal man! You will answer my question: Do you have a key to this exhibit?"
The janitor nodded mindlessly.
Tatiana grinned predatorily. "Perfect. Now, you will give those keys to my friend and allow her to enter the wolf habitat freely. She wishes to brush a wolf, and your only mission in life is! To! Make! That! Happen!"
The janitor, in a complete trance, wordlessly held out the keys for Selena to take. The would-be werewolf gladly did so and ran over to the exhibit's staff entrance and unlocked it, slipping into to this wolfy oasis among humans.
Realizing that Selena probably wouldn't be able to command wolves until her first shift, Tatiana decided to join her inside. She turned to the zombie-like janitor. "You will slumber on that bench for the next hour. When you awake, you will remember none of this."
With the janitor sleeping soundly, Tatiana slipped into the wolf habitat. After a minute's inspection, she found Selena being chased through the trees by three grouchy wolves.
"HELLLLP!!!" screamed Selena, tripping over a tree root.
Tatiana's eyes once again filled with red light as she fixed her glare on the wolves. "Halt! You creatures will stand still and quietly let my friend brush you!" The wolves froze obediently.
Selena smiled gratefully at Tatiana as she stood back up. She threw her arms around the pretty vampire. "My hero!"
"Thanks, babe," said Tatiana. "Now get brushing while you still can."
Selena nodded and picked out a graceful, sleek she-wolf with a glossy silver coat. She glided the Werebrush smoothly down the magnificent creature's back, and then repeated the stroke. On the third brushstroke, Selena nearly dropped the silver instrument as she felt it start to pulse with magic.
"Oh God!" she gasped. "I think it's ready!"
"Good," said Tatiana. "Let's get out of here."
Selena nodded and bolted out of the exhibit. Once Selena was safe, Tatiana released the wolves and followed. "So," said Tatiana, "I think we're done here."
