Carson realized he was still holding the estinguisher. Turning the nozzle to the metal arm restraining him, he pulled the lever and supercooled cryo fluid quickly froze the arm which shattered against his weight. He hit the ground hard, but found he was less rattled by the impact than expected.
Jumping to his feet, he ran for the exit hatch while the Sample remarked, "SUBJECT CARSON HAS TAKEN HOSTILE ACTIONS AGAINST THIS UNIT. REASONS UNKNOWN. CLASSIFYING BEHAVIOR AS IN NEED OF REVIEW. RECALCULATING TEST TRACKING PROTOCOLS."
Carson made it through the hatch, after tripping over and losing his boots, and keyed the controls to lockdown the Cargo Bay. Hopefully that would keep the thing contained for now. As he hurried to the Crew Quarters he found his suit growing hard to move in. Not wanting to slow down to figure that out, he opted to ditch the entire thing.
The cool recycled air made him shiver as he made his way down the hallway. He also grew worried that the gas the Sample had exposed him to was causing him to hallucinate, as the hallway seemed to be growing larger the further he traveled. Anxious to cut down his journey, he decided to cut through Child Accommodations.
The room was dark as no children were currently aboard the ship which gave it a eerie look. Of course these rooms are always kind of spooky as far as Carson was concerned. As it wasn't safe for children to be put under cryogenics, all ships included an android caretaker that can perform all childcare functions in case of "excessive fratnerization" between crew members.
The "Nanny Bots" were supposed to be as human-like as possible to promote proper social and emotional development. But Carson always thought you could tell when someone was a "Robo Kid". Like with O'Neal in all the time he's known the guy, he's never managed an emotion besides eerily pleasant.
Just when Carson was about to be exit the area, the lights flicked on and the hallway doors slid shut. Before he could try to reach for the control panel a voice spoke from behind.
"Uh oh! It looks like we have a little space boy trying to get where he's not supposed to," spoke the sickly sweet voice of the android, "And he's even forgotten his space suit! Oh my!"
Carson groaned as he turned around he was not in the mood to deal with a fritzing Nanny Bot. He was going to tell it to shut down, but the words catch in his throat when he had to look up to see its face. The android was built to resemble a young woman with tightly braided hair. Normally the thing would stand about chest level with him.
But now it leaned down and ruffled his hair, "No worries, you're not in trouble little guy. Now I don't remember you being signed in with me, so I better get you properly registered. Let's see here you like you're about ____."
