After a while of discussing the matter, Rei and Nat decided that they would talk with the children's mother's once they got back home. Getting the twins to bed was a little difficult, but they got the two to sleep with a bed time story that Nat had been told numerous times by her mother. Kari was a lot easier to put to bed and didn't complain, she even hugged Rei and Nat good night, which she thought was very sweet.
Nat was a little nervous as they waited for the Harris couple to return home, but Rei was there to help her calm down. She had never told anyone outside of Rei about being a damphir so it made her nervous to tell another soul. Finally Mika and Claudia Harris returned home to see the two young teens waiting for the parents.
"Oh my god, did something happen to the kids while we were out?" Claudia asked in a worry.
"No Mrs. Harris, the children were very good all through the night." Rei replied.
"Yeah, we saw what you meant by um...weird...because yeah, you're kids are furries at a young age." Nat said trying to make a joke.
"What we're trying to get at Mrs. and Mrs. Harris is that we...kind of...that is....Nat has a secret too." Rei said as she looked to her girlfriend and nodded.
Nat covered her face and took a deep breath before moving her hands to show Claudia and Mika her face looking like a vampire's face.
"Wait...are you a...vampire?" Claudia asked.
"Damphir actually, I'm part vampire on my mother's side." Nat said rubbing her neck.
"Oh my god, are baby sitter's a damphir. That could be a could book title." Mika said trying to lighten the mood as she looked at Mika.
"So what are you then? Vampire, werewolf, swamp creature?" Mika asked a little excitedly.
"I'm...uh...part...Russian on my dad's side. But we do have a magic ring that your daughter noticed and that's what brought up our conversation." Rei explained.
"So what do your parents do?" Claudia asked Nat.
"Well my dad's a lawyer and my mom's professional job is an author, but she secretly is a vampire hunter during the night." Nat explained. Nat opened up her phone and showed a picture of her family, her dad looked pretty short, while her mom looked a little tall.
"Interesting family you got there." Mika said looking at Nat's family photo.
"I know, my mom thought my dad was cute, but fell in love with him the more they got to know each other. It's actually an old bed time story that my mom always told me that I told your kids before I put them to sleep. A long time ago, vampires were known to be cruel and frightening to the world. As time went on, some vampires began to care for humanity, one beautiful vampire reached out to humans and began to help them and soon met someone who changed her world forever. He wasn't the most handsome, he wasn't the most brave, but he had the kindest heart she had ever met. They fell in love over time and soon began a family and in their bond, I was born." Nat told her story as Mika put a hand to her chest thinking the story beautiful while Claudia simply nodded.
"So do you have a sappy romantic story too?" Claudia asked Rei.
"Well...my dad liked to travel and met my mother while he was abroad in Japan and then they moved to America where I was born. Doesn't that just make your heart melt?" Rei asked knowing her history wasn't as exciting as her girlfriend.
"But then I met Nat in my life and she soon became my...., excuse me, my golden one." Rei said as Nat batted her eyelashes.
"Anyway, we heard about another damphir you knew?" Nat said.
"Yes, his name is Duke." Claudia said as they began to tell the two all that they knew.
