Vicky had a good idea where she was when she got off the plane, even though the gangway between the plane and the terminal was darkened she knew where it was. It was the sound that gave it away, the gangway was humming with the sound of a central Air conditioning system. Since it was the middle of the winter there was no sense to have the AC going in the winter in Seattle, so when she stepped out to see a terminal filled with bright warm sunlight of Miami which was one of the major cities under the control of the mythical creatures who ruled all of Florida and the entire Caribbean Sea/Gulf of Mexico. While there was some land based mythical creatures most where either purely water based or at least amphibious.
Vicky looked at the mythical creatures which were looking at the group of humans which were coming off the plane. Most where elves, frogmen or lizardmen but there was a few fur covered creatures and there was even a centaur or two.
“Move along.” Said a lizardman who looked like a humanoid alligator in armor over his scaled covered body and he had a sword at his side. Normally a sword wouldn’t be the match for a gun but if it was a magical sword which was most likely it would be able to cut through the armor of a tank. Knowing her flesh wasn’t the equal of the armor of an tank she kept moving down a mark line toward a nearby waiting area which was clearly a formal terminal back when this was a human city.
There where multiple guards, multiple creatures all watching them and a smaller number of creatures who were waiting there to process the newly arrived humans. They called them new citizens which grinned Vicky along with others. There was many people, had to be at least a 100 people and that was only in this group in this terminal on this day. The people ranged in age from newborns to elderly hardly able to walk, all sexes, genders, and races where in the mix. Vicky walked in and found a bench and waited.
Everyone seamed to be taking what was happening to them in certain ways. The 1st group of people where like Vicky who where quietly raging which was very common. The 2nd group was actually the most common, they all had resigned sadness like they wanted to die but didn’t want to do it. The 3rd group was the extreme of both ends, either they where at the point ready to charge at the creatures ready to die a human then live as a creature or trying to think of a way to carry out suicide.
It took hours, Vicky stood up a few times to use the bathroom or go to the food court which was free. They mythical creatures didn’t seam to have an order they came to take away a human or group of humans, instead they walked in and grabbed them at random. Over time the number went down until Vicky was among the last.
“You, human come with me.” Said a frog man…or was it a woman, Vicky honestly couldn’t tell.
“Fuck you.” Said Vicky but she stood up and grabbed her folder with all the information. She was lead past the guards toward a small office where an actual merman sat in a large bathtub like thing with a desk over it.
“Welcome, new citizen.” Said the merman as Vicky wanted to pull that merman out of the water and beat his nonhuman ass until he was dead. Then she noticed something which looked like a bigfoot but was only about her size was standing in the corner watching her prepared to protect the merman from her.
“Vicky, you SOB.” Said Vicky as she handed over the file and sat down across the merman.
“I understand your anger, I was a Mexican solider who once fought against my own kind now.” Stated the merman as he took the file and typed it into a computer. “I said the same thing if not worse, but now I couldn’t be happier. So lets see where we have you placed.”
Vicky didn’t say anything before the merman nodded his head and typed a few things, he was pencil pusher and that was all.
“Alright.” said the Merman as he printed off a paper and placed it in her folder, before turning to the guard. “Take her to bus 7, she will be going to transformation center 7.”
“What?” inquired Vicky
“Well, we don’t transform you here, no we have special centers for each type of mythical being and you have been assigned to transformation center 7.” Explained the merman “You will take a bus there and there you will be transformed.”
“Transformed into what?” inquired Vicky
“We don’t tell you that, until a few minutes before hand. We don’t want humans fighting because they are becoming something they don’t like.” Stated the bigfoot as she, judging by the voice lead Vicky out the door toward a bus which would take her to yet another center to be transformed.
The windows on the bus where darkened so she couldn’t look out, but it wasn’t that far of a ride. When she got out it was hospital. There she was led into a room and stripped of all her clothing and shoved into a circle room with some kind of seal on the ceiling and floor.
“Prepare for transformation.” Said a voice over a speaker in the wall as the floors and ceilings began to glow.
“Fuck.” Cursed Vicky as she was lifted into the air as she knew she was about to lose her humanity.
What is Vicky about to be transformed into.
