"So you're a half vampire?"
"Yup."
"And your your moms a vampire."
"Correct."
"And you worry about your safety when your mom is super strong and apparently so are you."
"Yes," Nat sighed, glancing over at Miles. While the damphir teen had been worried about being ostracized from her new friends, it appeared the opposite had taken place. Miles and Miranda were intrigued about Nat's heritage, almost to the point where the girl felt like she was being interrogated. "Its complicated okay. Like, I know me and my mom are like super strong but I worry people will hate us."
"Thats common," Spark interrupted. "I've seen it before. Humans can be superstitious, bigoted even. Individually their smart. Put a bunch together though and they become REAL dumb real quick."
"I thought fairies were supposed to be super nice and happy," Miranda asked.
"Nah we just have good marketing," Spark smirked.
After last night's impromptu meeting, the Desoto twins had learned quite a bit about their newest friends. Firstly they discovered that Nat's mother was a famous young adult author. She just also happened to be a vampire, which the twins ironically thought sounded like a great story idea. They al so discovered that Marisa was a very kind and warm person, confident yet soft spoken and willing to answer questions about her heritage.
Secondly they learned about Connor Moreland and his fairy girlfriend Spark. Connor was the youngest, (or more precisely currently youngest as his mother was pregnant) in a family of Demon Hunters. After moving into town last year the family had assisted a group of wizards in protecting the next generation of wizards from the vampire lord. Emerging victorious they then decided to settle down in this small New England town. With Connors older brother going away to college in the Fall, he was now picking up the slack keeping up patrols for any rogue supernatural elements that maybe lurking around.
Spark on the other hand completely caught the twins by surprise. So used to the fairies of popular culture, Spark appeared to be the exact opposite. Unfiltered, blunt, and with an explosive temperament Spark was an avid gamer as well as an accomplished fighter. She had worked first for Connors father before partnering with his brother. With Connors brother going to college, Spark had decided to stay home and attend high school with Connor.
"So your usually a fairy," Miranda asked, to which Spark nodded. "So how come you look like a human girl?"
"Well I can't just go out in the middle of the day as a fairy," Spark stated. "People might freak out seeing a tiny, green, nude woman flying all over the place. Besides, I like being human. I'm super cute and my books look fantastic. Not as fantastic as the mounds your sporting girl but still pretty good." Miranda now turned crimson, instinctively placing her arms across her chest as her brother now glared at Connor.
"Does your girlfriend really need to point out my sister breasts," he asked.
"Hey it was a compliment," Spark exclaimed. Connor sighed, apologizing for Spark but insinuating that she was indeed complimenting his sister. "Spark speaks her mind."
"And its not changing anytime soon so deal," Spark smirked.
"Anyway," Rei interrupted, trying to get everyone to focus on anything besides Miranda's breasts. "Nat and I wanted all of us to get together. You know, answer any questions you might have."
"Do you drink blood," Miles asked.
"No," Nat replied. "I mean, I could but I don't have to. I can eat just like normal people. My mom can eat regular food too, but she does need blood from time to time. She usually just drinks animal blood though that she gets from the butcher shop."
"So what would happen if you did drink blood," Miranda asked.
"Oh, oh, I can answer this one," Spark exclaimed. "I actually saw what happens." All now turned to the excited teenage girl as she stood before them. "So the other damphir Duke. When he drank blood he got super charged. It was nuts, his strength, speed, stamina, everything got jacked up to eleven. It was like getting the Star power up in Mario Bros. I asked him later about it and he said that to his knowledge all damphirs have that ability."
"So does that mean she's better with the magic ring," Miles asked.
"Actually," Natvreplied, rubbing her neck sheepishly. "Rei is alot better with it than I am."
"Its true," Rei replied happily. "Here check this out." The group now looked to where Rei was pointing, noticing a young mother and her 5 year old daughter by the playground. The girl was happily running through the playground, climbing over the monkey bats and racing down the slide. Despite the girls insistence for her mother to join her, the woman continued to mindlessly scroll through her cell phone.
As Rei's spell took affect, the group watched as a faint glow overtook the woman. The group watched as her face began to round, her body losing the extra weight she had put on since giving birth. Soon a teenager with a round face sat where a woman in her kate twenties had been before. The womans body skiiny, possessing a fit and firm physique with a gorgeous and youthful face. That period passed quickly, the woman rapidly reversing through puberty, her breasts melting away, her height decreasing as her face rounded. In only moments an energetic 5 year old put down her cellphone, sprinting to join the little girl as they began to play.
"Wow," Spark stated. "Not too shabby. Good thing its short term."
"Wait my spells can be short term," Rei asked. The others now raised an eyebrow, anxiously gazing at the Russian/Japanese teen.
"Uh yeah," Spark exclaimed. "Otherwise you just orphaned that kid and put the two of them in danger! Do you know how many people get kidnapped every year."
"No sorry," Rei replied sheepishly. Grabbing her backpack, the teen now dug into the bag producing a rather old looking book. "Guess that foes into my spell book then."
"Spell book," Nat asked.
"Yeah I went and bought a Spell book at the Magic Shop," Rei replied happily. "Well, its kind of a spell book. You see it was blank when I bought it but every time I write down a spell idea, the book sorts it so that I can remember. See, it even has a table of contents." Nat now glanced at Rei's book, noting the old, worn cover with the thick pages contained within. As she glanced through it, she noted an entire table of contents in the beginning; labeling everything from tips and tricks to frequently asked questions.
"Huh neat," Nat smiled.
"So," Miles asked, gazing at the odd group he appeared to now associate with. "What do you all feel like doing today?"
