"HEY! Are you a human?" Asked a cute fairy with white hair and sapphire like eyes, her wing fluttered gracefully behind her. Like Spark, and most of the fairies around them, she was naked, but for fairies, clothes were a matter of uniforms or social events, (being creatures born of magic, they lacked certain thing), covering up for the sake of modesty or social taboo simply wasn't part of their social contract.
Miles blinked at the pretty face. "Uh yeah, I am. Me and my friends."
Oh wow! A human! A real life human! I've never had a chance to meet a real human before! Bullies and thugs are always keeping me and my family from visiting the human world!..." She sniffled.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Miles said.
"Say human, can you give me your name?" She held his hand in both of hers.
"Sure it's-"
"You're not taking any trophies today!" Spark rammed into her.
"DAMMIT!" The fairy conjured a flash grenade and set it off, blinding the visitors and fairies, she'd fled by the time they could see again.
"Spark! Why did you do that?" Miles asked.
"That was an Unseelie! Also called the Winter Court! The opposite of the Seelie, the Summer Court. All the stories you fear about fairies tormenting humans? That's them. She didn't ask what your name was, or what to call you, or what your parents named you, or who you were. She specially asked you to GIVE HER your name! For the Unseelie it's NOT a figure of speech! Once your name belongs to her, she could have done with you as she pleased! You'd have never seen your family or friends again. She must have thought you'd be an easy mark. Or that I'd be indifferent to what happened to any of you. "
"And you didn't think to warn us?"
"I thought I did! They're such common knowledge that you just assume everyone else knows. Like crossing both ways before crossing the street in the human world... I thought crossing and stop lights could magically control humans when I first saw them. The Unseelie are not around every corner of every city. You don't tell every visitor to your world that there might be a psychopath around the next street corner."
