Adam let Coral lead him inside and upstairs. They went into the room to the right, which he could have sworn was his 10-year-old sister's purple bedroom but now sported green walls and a set of bunk-beds. Needing to check, Adam backed out of the room and trotted down the hall to his bedroom, unsurprised at this point to find it set up as an office for their father, who worked from home. A new 'memory' bubbled to the surface as he recalled overhearing their parents discuss moving Adam down the hall to this room when the kids stopped wanting to room together.
He heard Coral come up behind him, and turned to face his now-twin sister.
"Are you okay, Adam?" she piped, looking rather worried.
He sighed, but took her hand and walked her back to their room. This was all crazy and shocking and strange, but what harm had really been done? His sister was a truly kind person, despite what she'd done to him. There'd been no malice in her actions, even if Adam thought being turned back into a 5-year-old was sort-of cruel. Obviously Coral didn't see it that way. And as the shopkeeper had predicted: seeing WAS believing. Adam couldn't deny the growing sense of excitement he felt as he contemplated all the magical possibilities he now knew were possible.
"I'm okay, sis. I mean, thanks to the setting you've used so far, the whole world changes to match whatever you alter, so it's not like anyone will notice our old selves are missing or different or anything." he looked around, wondering where Coral had put the controller. "I have to admit, this is a bit more interesting than that video game I'd bought and was planning to play."
Coral clapped, glad her brother wasn't mad at her. "What should we try next?! Or should we stay like this for a while? We changed Mum's hair - should we do something to Da?"
"Well, we've got this power, and I don't really feel like NOT playing with yet. Would you let me have a turn?" Adam was itching to get his hands on the device and see what it could REALLY do.
