Morgana was trying to organize the chaotic jumble of goods of her shop when she heard a customer walk in. The witch turned to see Selena Lyall entering. "Welcome back to my shop, Selena," Morgana said. "I see you've been enjoying the hair chews I sold you." She noted that Selena's arms and legs were covered in a thick layer of red body hair, and even her face had a light dusting of faint downy hairs on its jawline and upper lip.
"Yeah," Selena smiled. "Now I feel like a proper werehyena, even in my human form. I actually think I'm as hairy as my mom now!"
"That reminds me," Morgana said, "your mother was here in this shop about an hour ago."
"Really?" Selena asked nervously, the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end at the thought of what her mother could be plotting. "Uh, what exactly did she want, Morgana?"
"For one thing, she wanted something to turn ordinary humans into werewolves," Morgana said. "The high incidence of lesbianism in this town's ruined the wolf pack's birthrate, and she's convinced that the vampires are doing some recruiting of their own in preparation for a war against the werewolf pack, so she wants something to bolster the wolves' numbers. I sold her a magical werebeast transformation salve that you rub into your armpits and crotch hair."
"Kinky," Selena chuckled. "Amything else she wanted?"
"Yes, Selena," Morgana said grimly. "She doesn't know that you are the alpha of a werehyena pack, but she does know that there is a werehyena pack in town. You can probably guess what the most violent and unhinged member of a territorial werewolf pack thinks of her neighbors."
Selena went pale. "You mean...?"
"Yes," Morgana nodded as she arranged breast expansion potions by size increase. "She wanted me to provide a way to turn these 'intruders' back into mundane humans."
"What did you tell her?!" Selena gasped, her voice anxious.
"I dragged my feet," Morgana said. "I lied that I didn't have anything that could do that in stock right now. That lie won't last forever, though. She'll expect me to acquire what she needs soon enough and sell it to her. And then she'll unleash it on anyone she discovers is a werehyena. I'm sorry."
"That's sorta why I came in right now, actually," Selena said. "You know how one werebeast can always smell another? Well, it's only a matter of time before someone in my parents' pack picks out my hyena scent in the crowd if I don't act fast. Can you do something magical to mask my hyena musk from the werewolves?"
"Of course," said Morgana. "I would have suggested it to you if you hadn't asked first. Just give me a sec." Morgana turned back to the shelves and rummaged. She found a small spray bottle and handed it to Selena. "Just spray this potion behind your ears twice a day. If you do, your werehyena scent will be hidden from anyone not part of your pack."
"Perfect!" Selena cheered as she snatched up the bottle. "How much?"
"Normally, it'd be $35.95," said Morgana, "but I'll let you have it for half off, considering what an emergency this is."
"Thanks," Selena smiled as she handed over the money. "So, how's the portal coming along? Ellie, Harper, Beck, and Brianna are all super excited to visit Japan and learn sumo, and I'm sure Kristi and Joelle are, too."
"Things are progressing nicely," said Morgana. "The portal should be fully open by tomorrow morning. Kyūri-sensei's made all the preparations. Joelle will be required to leave her humanity behind, of course."
"Has she decided what she wants to be?" asked Selena.
"A kawauso," said Morgana. "It's a kind of shapeshifting otter yokai. She called me half an hour ago to inform me, and I passed the news on to Kyūri-sensei. He actually told me that he just admitted a new kawauso student named Taki Morikawa. He suggested that Taki can teach Joelle about kawauso culture."
"Sounds exciting!" Selena grinned. "Thanks for all the help you've been to my pack, Morgana. Bye!" She sprayed some of the scent-concealing potion behind her ears as she left the shop. She smiled, knowing that she'd sleep easier tonight now that there was no risk that her mother could sniff out her secrets.
