Online gossip was currently there's a current trend of bimbos joining Animalia. Ms. Fabina wished there wasn't some truth behind this. It wasn't as if they were currently flooding with brain-dead beauties, but there were quite a few women lately who had relied more on their looks to coast through life rather than put in any serious time into education or work. The ones Ms. Fabina was dealing with right now were enough of a headache until the next semester of WSA starts.
At least not all of the bimbos coming in were concentrated in Lyre. With plenty of people wintering in the tropics as the pandemic gets closer to ending, Mieni Atoll was receiving quite a few tourists. Plenty of the women hitting the beach had intellect that covered as little as their swimsuits. Plenty of them were talking about staying at Mieni Atoll, with or without becoming Animalians. It was a bit hard to tell how seriously they were being about that. However, even if only half of them stayed, it did present a bit of a problem for the locals.
"We can't just keep accepting people moving in permanently," said Joe.
"I know," said Ran, "After all, there's only so many rooms in the hotel and we need to keep some rooms available for tourists."
"And it's not like we can just build more houses," said Joe, "This is an island after all. We have limited space."
"I hear they're starting to have similar issues on Heiya Island," said Gaz, "It's not a tiny island, but it can't just keeping refugees from all over Asia."
"At least they're talking about starting another colony in northern Japan," said Harold, "That should relieve some of the population tension."
"Yes, but there will still be plenty of people trying to move here," said Ran, "After all, this place is a tropical paradise."
"Perhaps it's time to do some offshore construction," said Joe, "Since the Nautical Museum has proven to be a sound structure, perhaps we should consider making a floating hotel."
"I'm not sure there's enough coral reef to support a whole hotel," said Gaz.
"It'll only be anchored by the coral reef," said Joe, "It is basically a ship that's build like a hotel. It could help resolve a lot of our housing problems."
"I recall reading an article about a floating hotel," said Harold, "As I recall, it became a financial disaster."
"Could the hotel you're referring to be the one that's currently in North Korea?" asked Kirana, looking at her phone.
Harold looked at the picture of the hotel and said, "I think so."
"Well, North Korea's not exactly a tourist-friendly place," said Ran.
"That's putting it mildly," said Joe flatly
"I wonder if we could buy that hotel from North Korea," said Gaz.
"Considering how the Koreans attempted to militarize the Animalian virus and establish a 'colony' on their border, both of which fell through, I would not on them being supportive," said Harold.
"Yes, we'll probably have to one designed and built from scratch," said Joe, "But if it can mean less pressure on rooming visitors and open up some space for permanent residents, I think it would be worth it."
"Hopefully most of our new residents won't be, uh, of the shallow and vapid variety," said Harold politely.
"Why have I been hearing those women be referred to as bimbos?" asked Gaz.
"Because I think that's what humans call pretty, dumb girls," said Kirana.
Harold sighed and said, "There's a little more to it than that."
