"A lot of it is going to be general stuff... and you know, stuff related to meeting them," Rachel then spoke as they walked along.
It was a bit early, at least for Rachel's Monday, Wednesday, and Friday schedule as her first class on those days didn't start until eleven. But Cynthia had earlier classes on those days, so Rachel had figured to walk into to the campus with Cynthia. Michelle and Jasmine were more than happy to help with finding some clean clothes for Cynthia to wear, albeit it ended up with Cynthia wearing a pair of Michelle's sweatpants and with the drawstring tied tight around her waist. Jasmine offered a pink shirt that read "Spicy" in white cursive script across the front, and it was a bit big on Cynthia, but not so oversized that Cynthia couldn't wear it. Though, Rachel attributed that to tee-shirts being made to fit just about everyone and specific sizes could fit a fairly decent range. The thankful thing was that Michelle and Jasmine were pretty tame and didn't tease Rachel or Cynthia all that much.
"Meeting the prides may be more of a one-on-one basis," Cynthia pointed out as they walked along, and reached one of the few corners in Moon Lake before turning onto it to head to the college, "as not all prides have the same schedule."
"I'm sure... but after meeting the Richards' pride and getting a lot of things I worried about answered," Rachel began, "I'm actually feeling a lot better about being a werecat now. There's still all the stuff that Leslie did, and to a degree... THAT damage is still there. But I'm feeling a bit better about being a werecat, now."
"That's good," Cynthia smiled, feeling that a lot of this was a successful part of what she had set out to do as Rachel's student advisor. Rachel was a bit younger than her, and that allowed for some of the things that encouraged Cynthia to want to help Rachel as much as possible. All of that included having Rachel meet with the various prides.
"And in this... I'm thinking it would be good to start looking into possible prides to join," Rachel spoke, "get a group I could practice my control with... and all that. But... I'd like to know more about Moon Lake's werecat prides and figure out scheduling the meetings. Particularly as I'd assume that's something you've been working on?"
"It has," Cynthia said slowly, "though as I said... sitting up the meetings would be something that would be set up on a one-by-one basis. For there are several prides out there, and they all have their own "leaders" and meeting schedules. About the only were-group that would have set days where you could meet with all the members of that group at once are the werefoxes and their Skulk."
"Skulk?" Rachel asked.
"The official word for a group of foxes, just as "clowder" is the official word for a group of house cats," Cynthia spoke, "though the words "glaring" and "colony" have also been used for house cats. I'm not sure on where or why werecats took the term for a group of lions from. But that's what they did."
"Maybe because people have known that lions live in prides and are felines and then assume that any group of felines, regardless of species," Rachel guessed.
"Maybe, but main point still remains that setting up meetings with the various other prides will take some calls to arrange things on their own that will still have to deal with each pride's schedule," Cynthia said slowly as they kept walking along, and Rachel could now see some the buildings that were part of the college's buildings.
"Sounds like a lot," Rachel commented.
"In a way it is and it can be," Cynthia nodded, "but I've made enough friends that if you want to meet these prides, it's quite workable. It'll just take a little time to make the phone calls and see who's free and when."
"And that'll be great," Rachel answered, finding herself smiling to Cynthia, "though will there be anything specific that I'd need to know?"
"Some of that is going to depend on the pride and each pride's individual quirks," Cynthia answered, "let's see... one pride is almost entirely made up of bi werecats that have either boyfriends or husbands and from what I've been told, their husbands are all invited to their meetings and can end up in rather open orgies with them from time to time."
"Ew," Rachel answered, "not all prides end up in orgies right?"
"A great many group meetings can often include some orgies to them," Cynthia spoke, "given how high the libido of weres can be. Though, that is often the last thing on the agenda and anyone that doesn't want to participate is free to go."
"Well... that's good," Rachel commented.
Cynthia nodded as they came up and she could see an older dormitory building for the campus up on a corner as they approached. Their first stop was to be where Cynthia's morning class was, and for the moment they still had the time for it.
"How big would the prides be?" Rachel wondered, "would they be comparable to the Richards' pride?"
"Most would be... but it can also vary," Cynthia answered, "the Town Chancellor is a werecat and she and her wife have a pretty small pride that is almost strictly lesbian. And there are a couple of prides that live closer to the center of town, and they can actually be pretty big in terms of the number of members in the pride. So, it varies from pride to pride."
"Would these larger prides accept news members?" Rachel asked. She wanted to ask if they would accept her and Cynthia, but she didn't. She liked Cynthia, and there were some things that indicated that Cynthia might like her back, but Rachel wanted to show that she wasn't like Leslie and thus wouldn't push anything on Cynthia. In some ways, she wanted Cynthia to make the first move, just to make sure.
"As in would they accept you?" Cynthia asked, raising an eyebrow.
"As is would they be welcoming but say their pride is too large," Rachel corrected, "would they have room to accept new members."
"The numbers would not be an issue," Cynthia answered, "while Moon Lake likes to keep Moon Lake's secrets secret, that doesn't mean we don't trade or engage the outside world. It's something that provides allowing the town to function regardless of the town's population. So, if you wished to join those prides... your presence wouldn't be a problem."
Rachel nodded with some relief there, "that's good. Though not all the prides are that big?"
"Not all of them," Cynthia answered, "in fact, most prides are about the same size as the Richards' pride that you met last night. The only other one that would be "large" would be Delta Phi... the sorority here on campus."
"And they're all werecats?" Rachel asked.
"Not all of them... and to a degree, those in the sorority that are werecats may join other prides when they graduate as well, as they won't be on campus as much anymore," Cynthia spoke, "but as I said the sorority does allow members to always be part of the pride. It ends up having graduates having a role not to different from my uncle's place with both his werewildcat pride and the Richards' werecat pride."
"Sounds complicated, but understandable," Rachel nodded.
