Spark was flying a little ahead of the group while Caleb, Miles, Chenoa, and Agent Dave Francis were just a little behind her. Caleb noticed that Spark was still a little upset over not being partnered with Connor.
"Anything yet Spark?" Caleb called out to Spark who was scanning the forest. "Just more forest Connor....sorry, Caleb." Spark called back and apologized.
"So....Caleb, your family works with fairies?" Agent Francis asked trying to start a conversation.
"Sure has. My dad worked with Spark's mom 'til she retired and passed the job onto her. Then I worked with my dad, 'til his...'early retirement'." Caleb explained.
"I thought your father stopped working because his arm...." Chenoa began to ask before Miles nudged her a little and motioned for her to stop before she finished.
"Right, I'm sorry. Beyond your group, I do not have much experience with....average humans. But you all are proving to be most extraordinary." Chenoa complimented grabbing Miles's hand.
Caleb noticed Spark stopping ahead and looking in a certain direction.
"Spark? Are you still searching for Chenoa's parents? Or seeing how my brother's doing?" Caleb asked.
"Both. Look, I'll admit, I love your brother and I do want to spend my life with him, but Caleb I don't think you understand that sometimes....fairies outlive humans. However much time Connor and I have, I want to make as many memories as I can. So I'm not being 'obsessive' if that's the word, I just want to be with him as long as I can." Spark said to Caleb.
Caleb thought for a moment and forgot that fairies can outlive humans. Spark's mother had worked with his grandfather and he was long gone by now.
"Wait!" Chenoa said making all of them stop in their tracks. Chenoa sniffed the air and got down to the ground and found near the bottom of one tree, some dried up blood.
"Blood...dried, at least...three days old. That skin walker must have chased my parents this way. One of them could be hurt or worse. Quickly, alert the others." Chenoa begged to Agent Francis.
Agent Francis radioed over for the others to to their location. Hopefully neither of Chenoa's parents were badly hurt. Chenoa didn't want cry, but Miles held her hands tightly to help her not cry.
