Turning back, Audrey grabbed the girl's hand and tried to pull her out. Unfortunately, the barmaid was not quite as athletic as the female warrior, and her dress really hampered her progress. As such, she was only halfway through the window when the bubble reached her.
All at once, the scared girl blurred and changed while the last wall of the inn evaporated into nothing. In a second, Audrey felt the hand she was holding shrink and fuse into a dainty cloven hoof. She pulled back in shock, now staring into the lovely eyes of yet another unicorn mare. Then, the horn above those eyes began to glow.
She tried to stumble back. Even so, she sensed an invisible wall pass over her just before the world became fuzzy, intangible. Colors swirled about her, and she could no longer feel her own body. Suddenly, it passed.
Blinking in confusion, Audrey found herself in a new position on all fours. Proportions seemed off but not uncomfortable. Also, she felt naked but not cold. Looking down, she gaped at the white-furred forelegs and cloven hooves that had replaced her arms. Recognizing the features as being the same as those unicorn mares she had seen, she felt horror well up inside only for it to be smothered by the magic entering her brain.
Doe eyes unfocused, Audrey felt her thoughts altering. At the same time, her stubborn warrior's spirit reared up to resist, trying to fight off the warm, golden fog in her head.
I'm not a unicorn! I'm a huma-m-mare! No, that's not...I'm a hu-u-un-ni-corn. A unicorn? Y-yes, that's right. Wait, no!
The mental fight went on for another second or so until the spell ended. The newest unicorn mare looked around her and...
