As Lorelei and Alice now watched the three children sprint through the play area, Alice couldn't help but want to know what Lorelai knew about the dice. "So this type of thing has happened before?"
Lorelei chuckled, clutching the dice tightly in her hand. "More often than anyone wants to admit," she grinned. "Thats why we ended up installing this play area. Far too many unlucky owners looking to return the dice after finding their way back to grade school."
"Why does that happen," Alice asked.
"Well it has to do with the spirit of youth within the dice," Lorelai stated. "You see, the spirit believes that the more often you roll the better chance it has of escaping. It influences the dice in that way, either through indirect means or creating an intoxicating effect that the user can't get enough of."
"Is that why we couldn't stop?"
"Youth is intoxicating," Lorelei stated, the 53 year old woman rubbing her chin as she gazed at the dice in her hand. A quick roll in her own hand now caused the voice to echo once more.
Fifty three years you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but forty six. Each roll of the dice returns more if what you have lost." As the now familar lights appeared around Lorelei, most of the Gypsy woman's white hair and a fair portion of her wrinkles disappeared as she went from mid-fifties to mid-fourties.
"This is fun when I get to do this." Lorelei let out a sigh of pleasure.
"But why?" Alice said in concern. "If the Dice want you to roll, why do it."
Lorelei smiled as she rolled again - a Ten. "Its only for a short time, and besides I know what the dice do and how to counter the wants." By the end of the of the sentence, the matronly mid-fourties woman had gone back into an attractive mid-thirties. Wrinkles and hair were back to a more youthful look and Lorelei lost a bit of weight, making her clothes loose.
"There is a really simple trick to it. Or rather its simple to know." Lorelei rolled again and a second time.
"Thirty-Five years you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but Twenty-Eight. Each roll of the dice returns more if what you have lost." With that Lorelei went back to her twenties, a very attractive twenties in Alice's opinion.
"At this point, most people are intoxicated with the feelings and slowly those feelings are changed to a desire to be younger." Lorelei Rolled.
"Twenty-Eight years you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but Twenty-One. Each roll of the dice returns more if what you have lost." The young mother in looks youthened to a college student. Her hair was wavy and black down her back, olive skin was perfect, and Alice noticed that her curvy figure stretched parts of the dress while hanging quite loosely in others.
"So what's the trick?" Alice's eyes went wide as Lorelei rolled one die.
"Twenty-One years you have walked this Earth. Now this number is but Seventeen. Each roll of the dice returns more if what you have lost." With that the College age Gypsy woman became a High School Student near Alice's age.
"You already know. There was a point when you looked forward rather than at the present or increasingly desire the past."
Alice thought back on her wedding dress and how she wanted to fit in it rather than it drape loosely over her. The growing sensation to want to get younger ebbed a bit.
"But every time, the Dice will try to push the desire for youth to be in front of that desire." Lorelei stepped up in front and close to Alice, making Alice note the woman who had been a bit taller than her was now a bit shorter than her.
Before Alice could ask what Lorelei was doing, Lorelei kissed her.
