As soon as she started the program, she thought she heard a noise. "Bill? Is that you?"
There was no answer...and she hadn't heard anyone on the stairs.
She heard the noise again, coming from Megan's room. She headed inside. Megan was at soccer practice, so no one should be in there. And there wasn't. Only the bed, dresser, some books, and the lone doll Megan still kept. When she got old enough, she'd packed away the rest of her toys and Bill had stored them in the basement...except for this one doll, which she'd kept. It was a large one, nearly 3 feet long, and looked like a young girl. Megan had dressed it in her old sundress and leaned it against the wall. Megan had called her Katie.
Sherry turned. There was obviously no one here. She started to leave when she felt something grab her leg. She turned. Katie was on the floor, her plastic arm touching Sherry's leg. "Must have fallen," she remarked to herself.
She moved to pick it up, but her leg felt like it had fallen asleep. She tried to shake it, moving like a pirate with a pegleg for a moment before sitting on the bed to check it out. She pulled up her pant leg to reveal....a flesh colored plastic leg. She yelped, but barely had time to react before something grabbed her other leg and pulled.
She slid off the bed and onto the floor, looking up, she saw Katie rising to her feet...revealing a pair of human legs attached to the doll's torso. Sherry tried to get to her feet, but both had now turned to plastic, and couldn't support her. "What the hell...Bill? Help?"
Katie approached her on her new legs, and reached out a hand....Sherry could see the cold plastic turning to flesh...joints developing, nails. She had a sneaking suspicion, and brought her hand up to examine it....she could see it hardening, turning that pseudo-flesh color...the nails turning into just etched details on the plastic.
"Are you doing this? Why are you doing this?" Sherry said, trying to back away...but without legs or hands...it was difficult.
