After driving for an hour, the group finally arrives at the abandoned Mansion, Jeff parks the car near the gates, hiding it in the thick brush which surrounds the large building. The boys all get out of the car and just stare up at the huge Mansion in awe and amazement.
“Holy… shit,” Jeff finally says, “that house is no Mansion… it’s a freaking castle!”
The Mansion seems to have been built during the Gothic Victorian era, it is at least four stories high, has four slim castle-like towers on each corner, some gargouls on the roof, which has large holes, the mansion itself however looks surprisingly good, not as damaged as they thought.
“I am surprised that the Mansion is still standing,” Todd says, “I mean… the main structure at least, the roof is damaged and who knows what it might look like inside.”
Dean looks at the group, “well, what are we waiting for,” he asks excitedly, starting to head towards the gates, the others follow.
Jeff, however does not move, Todd turns around and raises an eyebrow, “you chickening out?”
Jeff shakes his head, “that’s not it,” he says, “okay, it is a little creepy, but the reason why I am hesitant is that I just realized that we are about to trespass.”
“So, who cares,” Zack says, “no one knows we are here!”
“Yeah,” Todd says, “it is not like we are planning to vandalize it! We are just curious!”
Mike nods in agreement, “and if a police should come along,” he says, “we’ll just say we didn’t know, he’ll give us a simple warning and send us away. I doubt that we’ll get arrested, now… come on!”
Dean, Mike, Todd and Zack turn back to the Mansion and start to walk through the gates, after a while Jeff lets out a defeated sigh and follows his friends.
After walking up the long driveway, which is partially overgrown, but not to bad, the boys arrive at the large stone steps, which lead up to the main entrance. When they reach the top their eyes widen at the sight of the large old wooden doors.
“Darn,” Jeff says, “those look frail, it surprises me that they have not withered away.”
The others nod, then Todd notices something, “hey, it looks like there is a plank missing,” he says, pointing to one of the doors, he then turns to the others, a grin on his face, “I think we just found a way in! Let’s go!”
Once the boys all have entered the main lobby: the stairs, leading to the upper floors, seem to be still in good enough shape to not turn into dust under their feet, and neither of them are heavy, they all have athletic bodies, some debris of rubble is scattered all over the floor, but apart from that it looks safe enough. Doors lead to other rooms, some old broken furniture, even old portraits hanging on the walls, give off a creepy vibe.
“I wonder why they left all their belongings here,” Jeff says.
The others shrug, “who knows,” Todd says, “the portraits are the creepiest,” he adds.
“We agree,” the others say.
“So, how should we do this,” Zack asks, “split, split up into two groups or stick together?”
