It was the first day of school and I was near a traffic light nervously waiting for the school bus. I had to walk three blocks to reach the stop, the distance was further away than the single block that I had to walk for my last school bus stop, but overall, it was not a long walk
Today I was dressed in a white t-shirt with pink accents and khaki bermuda shorts that ended above my knees paired with a pink belt. I wanted to look nice to cause a good first impression; not too conservative, but not too revealing. I wasn’t sure whether I should use some earrings or not; In the end, since I am not too sure if it’s normal for girls my age wear them to school, I decided to not use any today and look at other girls for reference
I am using a bra today. It is still a little embarrassing if people realize that I am wearing one, but at the same time I feel proud that I am old enough to wear one. Besides, with my buds in the process of rapidly developing, protection is needed, both against rubbing with my clothes and in case that I bump them into something. Not that I am a klutz or something, it just that small hits to my chest that before went unnoticed, now are very noticeable because it hurts; like a few days ago when I taught John some soccer tricks, receiving the ball with my chest is not something that I wanted to try anymore for the time being
For my shoes, I was wearing some comfortable white sneakers along with some light pink sox to keep the color combination
Yesterday, my mom convinced me to tie my hair in two pigtails. At first, I thought that the style was too childish, but after trying the look, I agreed that it gave me a youthful look without being too immature. I was already used to tying my hair in a ponytail style when I went for a jog or to the gym to avoid my hair from falling into my face and being annoying, so I already had some experience; after some coaching from my mom and a few tries, I could do the hairstyle by myself. My mom had already bought scrunchies, hairbands and elastic hair ties since the first day of the swap.
I had my backpack with me, but instead of being full of books, it had a pad with all the ebooks that I would need for the school year. It seems this school is embracing modernity more readily than my old school, something that I am grateful for; instead of lugging a bunch of books around, I would need to only carry the pad. Of course I still had a small notebook and pencils, erasers and whatnots in case some teacher wanted to try an activity the more classic way.
I did finish reviewing all the learning material up to 10th grade where I previously was, to ensure that I would not start to forget my more advanced classes. It was a little difficult to spend a great part of my vacation reviewing everyday, but I am happy that I kept doing it. Thanks to that, I broke a deal with the swap facility and in addition to the ebooks for 6th grade that I would need for this year, I also have the ebooks for 11th grade that I would be studying if I didn’t go through with the body swap. I still need to participate in class discussions, workshops and take tests, but during lecture time I could spend my time reading new content rather than listening to information that I already know.
After a few moments of introspection, I saw the school bus arriving and with butterflies in my stomach, I took some steps to enter the vehicle. Yesterday, I had decided that if possible, I would sit with a kid my age, and try to make friends.
When I entered the bus, I gave a brief nod at the driver as a greeting and took a quick glance to the back of the bus. There were kids of all ages, but I quickly found four candidates that seemed my age and that nobody was sitting besides them
A cute blonde girl that seemed excited or perhaps nervous.
A black dude with defined muscles that looked looked like an athlete
A latina that despite of her youthfulness appeared quite mature because of the makeup that she was using
A redhead boy with glasses that gave off nerd vibes that was playing with that new portable game console
