Turning a corner, Felicity gasped as a hooded figure in green and beige robes nearly ran into to her. Startled, the two figures nearly fell. "Whoa sorry kid," the figure said and only now could Felicity discern that it was a man.
The Boss paused, looking the frightened girl over before speaking. "Felicity Monroe right," he asked to which the girl nodded. "What are you doing out here?" Gazing at the girl, the Boss could see that not only was she frightened, she was planning on escaping. Unfortunately this seemed to be a side effect of Dr. Eastlys regeneration treatment. On occasion a regenerated individual would attempt to escape, usually around puberty. Considering the damage done to Felix before his demise, he could understand why the now 11 year old girls anxiety had reached a point where she felt the need to flee.
"Why don't you come with me," he said softly, extending his hand. Felicity backed away slightly, still petrified of what would happen. "I'm not going to hurt you," he sighed. "I don't hurt kids. Teenagers and adults sure but not kids. You don't have to worry okay?" Tentatively Felicity rea he'd her hand out, the Boss taking it as he now slowly led the girl to the conference room.
Entering the room, the Boss now did his best to treat Felicity respectfully. Pulling out a chair for the girl, Felicity hopped in, frowning as she realized her feet still didn't quite reach the floor. What happened next astounded the girl as the Boss removed his hood.
The Boss was a decent looking man in his mid thirties with dark blue eyes and well kept brown hair. Their was a certain attractiveness to him, Felicity mind conjuring an image of a pleasant suburban neighbor. "Want some cocoa," he asked. It's good." Unsure of what to say, Felicity simply nodded, the Boss now retrieving a mug and filling it to the brim before placing a few marshmallow inside. The whole scene seemed rather wholesome, calming Felicity as she took a small sip.
"I read Eastlys report," the Boss said softly. "How Felix, um you, tried to bring Mary Elise and the Ring of Change here. Didn't turn out so well though." Felicity nodded, a small frown forming on her innocent face. "And now you're thinking of running away. You're scared that you won't be valued any within the organization."
"How do you know," Felicity asked in wonder. Shocked that the Boss could almost read her mind. The Boss chuckled, shaking his head slowly. "You're not the first that's had to go through this," he said. "Which is why I want to put your fears to rest." Felicity now listened intently as the Boss spoke.
When it came to the board, the Boss wasn't looking for shared leadership, he was looking for ideas. The board existed for the sole purpose of making those who craved power, think they had it. The Boss didn't care about the patriarchy, he listened to his closest advisors, the ones that traveled thought time with him. Casseus, Choon Hee, Rick, Anne, they were the ones that helped craft his ideas. "All I needed from the board was the muscle and the money to make things work."
"Then why have it?"
"Because too many have real fragile egos and want to be in charge. So, I make them think they do so that I have access to the manpower they possess. The One Humanity was a predecessor to the Normal in the future and eight now they're real good at recruiting."
"So why tell me this?'
The Boss grinned, Felicity was a quick learner with alot of potential. Feliz had been the same, having alot of ambition but no patience. Felicity had that same potential, with a little extra and hopefully some temperatures in her demeanor. "Because I see big things for you kid," he said. "Before the accident you were smart. You still seem smart but you picked up a bit of magic from the accident. Its nothing as potent as the wizards but it could be of use in the future. I just want to see if you can help when you get older. Helping create my vision and eliminate the wizards."
I think I can do that."
"Good," the Boss smiled. "Now, why don't you head to bed and get some rest. I'm going to need you on the board when your old enough. Who knows, maybe if you're their I'll actually pay attention." Felicity giggled, hopping out of her chair as she thanked the Boss. Leaving, she felt a bit more relieved than when she spoke with Choon Hee. Maybe this could turn out for the best for herself.
