Gazing out the window of Bong-chas car, Lilith found herself thinking over the madness her life had been over the past month.
At the end of October the 15 year old was sitting outside a school dance, in another timeline, feeling lost. That changed when some creep approached her, tried to kidnap, only to have his neck snapped by a dark wizard named Misery. Ever since, things had become crazier than the young teen could possibly fathom.
Taken in by a doppelganger of her teacher Mary Elise, Lilith found herself introduced to a punk rock group consisting of a vampire, a mummy, and a werewolf. Add to this motley crew a quirky necromancer and a zebra demon and Lilith wondered if the last month of her life had been some sort of fever dream. "Hey kid we're here!"
Lilith now glanced over at Bong, the Korean vampire looked as if she had just rolled out of bed, sporting a pair of sleep pants, fuzzy slippers, and a tank top. Blowing a cloud of smoke from the lit cigarette in her mouth, she now tossed the teenage girl her backpack. "How are you not bursting into flames," she asked. Bong smiled, tapping on the windows. "UV filters," she said. "Lets me cruise around during the day. Which reminds me, do you have any idea how long it's been since I've seen the sun?"
Lilith shrugged, guessing it had been centuries for the vampire. Bong may look like a teen but she was hundreds of years old. "Dont be nervous," Mary now commented. "This version of West is probably better than the one your used too." Lilith wasn't sure, gazing at the auburn haired college woman. Yes it was different, considering the numerous supernatural races mingling with the human students, but it was still high school.
"Hey if anyone gives you any shit just tell Luca," Set stated, the mummy pointing to the rather large werewolves in the backseat. "He'll tear their arms off."
"Pretty sure that will land Luca in jail," Lilith replied flatly, noting the massive werewolves malicious grin. "Worse case scenario I could try resurrecting them," Jolie said, the platinum blonde necromancer trying to add to the conversation. "I'll keep that in mind," Lilith replied, the teen now exiting the car. Turning she now offered a sullen wave to the group, Mary Elise aka Misery, offering a heartfelt goodbye as the car now sped off, barely missing a group of students now trying to cross the road. As Lilith now entered for her format day back, she thought now of the group she now found herself with.
After bouncing around foster care for so many years, Lilith had grown numb to uprooting her life. Traveling between homes, she always felt like an outsider, never quite fitting in or worse infuriating her foster parents to the point that they could only longer house her. Although she had only been living with the group for a month it felt oddly different.
Bong, Set, and Jolie acted as older sisters to the young teen, albeit older sisters who weren't exactly a positive influence. Bong and Set had a wild streak, partying too much, drinking too much, and not exactly trying to stop Lilith from indulging in her more destructive vices. If anything the pair always seemed to have a cigarette or a joint ready for the teen whenever she wanted one. Still, in their own bizarre way they cared for her, even looking out for the teen in their own way.
Jolie was even odder, perhaps not as destructive as the other two but far from a positive influence. Jolies ideas always seemed to revolve around her abilities to resurrect the dead and while she seemed decent enough, Lilith sometimes wondered if she was more mature than the teenage necromancer.
Finally there was Mary Elise and Luca. Luca came across as an overprotective big brother, one who just happened to enjoy ripping anyone in half literally if they went after Lilith. Mary on the other hand, came across as a mother figure. It struck the teen as odd that the college age woman was so protective of her. Mary always seemed to fret over the teen on whatever mission they went on before brutally eliminating their enemies. In a way Lilith thought of Misery as an evil Mary Poppins. Still, as insane as it sounded, Lilith was beginning to think of this group as the best family she ever had.
Shaking the thought from her head, Lilith now continued towards her locker. She couldn't afford to think like that after all she had been through. Nothing good ever lasted for her, this was a short reprieve until life once again dealt her an unfair hand. That was how the world worked, just when she could feel comfortable, to begin to feel something positive, the rug would be pulled out from under her. Turning a corner, Lilith now spotted Ann Pendragon, the goth teenager offering her a slight wave as she approached. "Hey how's it going?"
"Okay so far," Lilith sighed. "Got my locker and class schedule." Ann now glanced at the girls schedule, immediately noticing she would be in quite a few of her classes. "Cool looks like you have lunch with us," Ann stated. "I'll introduce you to the rest of my friends." Lilith nodded, at least in this timeline she could make some friends. Opening her locker the teen now shrieked in surprise as she saw who resided within.
"Hello Solar Guardian Pluto kyu," Pokoyo smiled, the pink cat familiar three tails twitching. "Pokoyo what are you doing here," Lilith hissed.
"Just making sure your first day is a marvelous one kyu," the familiar replied. "It is my duty to make sure you do well in your studies." Lilith groaned in embarrassment, the last thing she expected was to see the Guardian of the Solar Guardians hanging out in her locker on her first day. Ann now peaked inside Liliths locker, her eyes going wide in surprise. "You have a familiar?!"
"Yeah long story," Lilith sighed. "Apparently Pokoyo keeps on eye on the different majokko. And since I'm one of them..."
"That's so cool," Ann gushed. "The only other familiar I've run into is Rexie, Mias familiar, but she has tendency to cause trouble. That's why Akira banned her from the school. I'm amazed Pokoyo was able to get in."
"I intend to cause no harm or mischief while helping Solar Pluto kyu," Pokoyo stated. "I am only here to make sure she has a wonderful day."
"You definitely have to introduce Pokoyo to the others," Ann said excitedly. "They'll love it." Lilith could only sigh, it seemed her first day would be an interesting one.
