Now, you can’t really blame me…
I’ve had this interest in animals, and I had pets like a dog, a lizard, a bird, a couple of cats, and a couple of mice.
And after I saw a show on TV where a couple took home an injured deer, and nursed it back to health. It was so grateful, that it wanted to live with the human couple like a family.
Not that I would find a kangaroo in my neck of the woods. But I had an interest with kangaroos, even though I don’t live in Australia.
Even looking past the often stereotyped in cartoons where the female Kangaroos are always motherly, and the male ones are such fighters (typically with boxing gloves). There’s even a bit of a guilty pleasure of seeing some anthropomorphic artwork. Or rather, furry art like, what if they can walk, and talk like us.
I know it’s stupid, but it’s kinda hard not to entertain the notion that, animals perhaps can think for themselves. Maybe the deer chose to live with the couple? I don’t know.
Anyway, I told the clerk that I’m look for a documentary on kangaroos, and she gave me a tape. “I don’t know if it’s a documentary but it dose involve kangaroos.” As I got the tape. I thought to myself. ‘Wait what?’
“Ma’am? How am I supposed to do with this?”
“Play it?” She just shrugs. “Sorry sir, but that’s all I’ve got.”
I paid her, and leave. A VHS Tape. I thought they are a thing of the past? Granted, I do still have a VHS Player for sentimental reasons. But even then it’s still collecting dust in my basement.
And finally I made it back to my house, where I’m greeted with my pets! A husky golden retriever dog named ‘Chucky’, ‘Roy’ the lizard, ‘Red’ the bird (because it’s red), ‘Toni, and Umi’ the cats, and ‘Zipper, and Tracy’ my mice.
Welcoming to my home I went ahead, and setup my player to start the movie. To my embarrassment the dust went everywhere, and of course, out of habit told no one in particular. “Well, guys I had this since I was young so, I never used it since-…” I stopped myself, Why am I saying this?! They don’t know, and they wouldn’t care! Better to leave that one alone.
And before I put in that tape I read the back… ’Watch and become the animal you have always wanted to be!’ And at the front the title ‘Inner Animal’ with a subtitle beneath it. I put the tape in, and see what happens…
And as I did that, I can’t help but think about the cover, and the [subtitle]. Is this even what I’m looking for? ‘Even if it’s not educational, at least I’ll have some enjoyment!’ I end up telling myself.
