The Magic Shop

Diana and Trisha's new normal

added by O A year ago AR AP BM O Mental

Looking into the rear view mirror of her car, Diana frowned before sighing. "Ugh why would anyone wear this?"

"I don't know I think the pink hair is cute," Trisha replied, the latina teen studying her sea foam green hair carefully. "I mean yeah I get it, it's weird but it could be worse. Can you imagine actually having this many piercings?" Diana shrugged, the two teens studying the numerous piercings they were now forced to wear. Thankfully, the piercings were fakes, easily removed when away from school. They were simply part of their disguise and enchanted to keep the pair safe from any magic they may encounter. Diana watched as Trisha opened her mouth, removing the bar in her mouth before grimacing. "Ugh this thing sucks."

Diana giggled, watching Trisha reposition the piercing before placing it back in place. When their father and grandmother approached the pair of teens about an important assignment, the girls readily volunteered. Afterall, this was the family business.

It was odd for Diana and Trisha. The two teenage girls weren't naive, they understood their dad was involved in something that was a bit nefarious. Always referred to as the Boss, the girls had grown up watching their father surrounded by his "guys" and having meetings with some scary looking individuals. As the two had grown up, they began to understand something. Their dad was powerful and probably very, very bad.

This though was hard to fathom. He was dad, the same guy who would read them stories at bedtime when they were kids, the same guy who blushed when he had to have "the talk" when he caught Diana and Trisha sharing a kiss when they were 12. Their father had always seemed like the greatest dad in the world. As they got older, they began to rationalize in very much the same way the daughters of crime bosses rationalized it. Afterall, Tony Soprano may have been a ruthless gangster but his children saw a much different side. That was how Diana and Trisha thought of their father, the world didn't understand just how good he could be. "Are you surprised dad asked us for help," Diana asked softly.

"A little," Trisha shrugged, her face forming into a frown. "I mean you've seen how stressed he is. Dad's under alot of stress, he wouldn't ask unless it was serious." Diana nodded, biting her lip as she recalled the conversation they had before enrolling at school. "I know," she said nervously. "But did you see grandma? She looked kind of upset."

"Grandma always looks nervous," Trisha replied, a smile firming on her face as she thought of the Greek goddess Demeter. "Is it me or is grandma really jittery for a goddess?" Diana laughed, recalling the tight hig Demeter had given them before nervously saying goodbye. On top of having a dad who was involved in crime, the pair of teens could also count a Greek goddess as a relative. As insane as it sounded, they viewed Demeter as just their overprotective grandma. Growing up the two teens had found themselves spending many a day with her. Those times were cherished by the pair, Diana fondly recalling running through Demeters garden, laughing happily as she played. Sighing she realized just how much she missed those simpler times.

"You know grandma told me that after-school she would take us to the garden."

"Really," Diana said excitedly, watching as Trisha nodded. A large smile now spread across Diana's face. She couldn't wait for the day to end, to dress in a flowing ankle length dress and run barefoot through the garden as Demeter ringed her hair with flowers. Just the idea of her reward at the end of the day only strengthened her resolve. "Okay I'm ready! So what do we do?"

"Dad wants us to just try and fit in," Trisha replied. "Apparently some of the teenagers who have been trying to hurt him go here. He wants us to kind of mingle and find out anything we can on something called a Soul Drive. It's apparently some future robot."

"Like Alpha?"

"Yeah," Trisha replied. "But dad wants to get s hold of them and study them carefully. He also said something about a secret agent that works as a teacher."

"Well," Diana stated, trying to put on a confident air. "Lets go make the family proud."

As the two teens now exited the car and began to journey to school, they weren't aware of what had happened. The memories of their happy childhood, of growing up with the Boss as their adoptive father with Demeter a their grandmother were mostly a lie. Two weeks ago the girls were quite different before being reduced to infancy and raised by the Boss. Now all they knew was their dad needed help and they would do anything to make him proud.
