"Shit!" you curse as you lunge for the door. You have no idea where Maya is, and Greg is probably with his daughter, but you definitely need both of them if your research for a cure is to make any additional progress. This was the furthest you had ever gotten. You are about to throw yourself under the closing door to go find them when you feel someone yank you backwards.
"All personnel are to remain in the shelters until the threat is neutralized!" A guard barks at you while he pushes you back towards the other people in the shelter. You shoot Robin a desperate look, but she's too busy coordinating the response to deal with you, and before you can think of a solution...
[THUD] The door seals.
Four hours later, you look up from your seat on the floor against the wall as the red emergency lights turn off, and suddenly you hear the hiss of the sealed door beginning to open.
"The emergency shutdown for this sector has been lifted, as it appears to have been mistakenly triggered. This wing has been swept and is secure, but the other wings have been sealed off. Do not attempt to enter the other areas of the facility until they are cleared and determined to be secure!" The guard instructs all of you after listening to something on his earpiece.
You are desperate to search for your team members, especially since contact with the rest of the facility outside of the security team's network was cut off due to the emergency protocols. However, Robin calls you over before you can run off.
"The experimental drug vials your team produced need to be placed in a secure location. Take them to your lab and turn over the materials and records," Robin orders, nodding at three stone-faced guards.
"Just let me find Maya and Greg first--" you try to buy some time to figure out what is going on.
"Security will see to that, just handle this for now," Robin interrupts.
"But our research!" you retort. "How are we supposed to continue without--"
"It's on hold until this mess can be sorted out!" Robin waves you off and leaves, while the guards prevent you from going anywhere but the lab.
"Damn it," you curse to yourself, but you know you don't have a choice. Stalking off to the lab, you unlock the door and enter. Two of the guards immediately peel off to stack up your team's laptops and files, readying them to be carted off. The other guard follows you to the refrigerator where the vials of your experimental drug are stored.
You carefully remove the rack from the fridge and set it inside a transport cooler. However, before the lid is latched, you notice something odd. Only one vial had been removed for today's test. However, there are two empty slots in the rack. Before you can take a second look or say anything, the guards turn and leave with all of your research.
You stand there, dumbfounded, unsure of what you should do next. Should you inform Robin a vial is missing? But if someone took it, who could it have been? The lab was locked when you got there. Did someone trigger the emergency lockdown to steal the vial?
