I have always had a superpower unique to a girl like me: the ability to breathe underwater. It's a strange gift that I never quite understood, but it has always fascinated me. However, there's just one problem: I don't know how to swim.
Whenever I find myself submerged in water, I sink straight to the bottom like a stone, unable to propel myself upwards to safety. I've lost count of the number of times I've found myself in trouble, feeling the weight of the water pressing in on me, unable to kick my way back to the surface. It's a terrifying feeling, knowing that one moment I can be admiring the underwater world and the next, struggling to survive.
Thankfully, I've always had my family and friends around who are quick to jump in and rescue me. They tease me for having such a unique superpower yet not being able to swim, but I know they're always there to lend a helping hand.
In this particular day, my family and I decided to go to the beach. Although my family told me that it would be better for me to stay on the deckchairs, I decided to ignore them and headed towards the sea.
