She turned to the mirror, seeing her now featureless face, with three holes...camera, microphone pinhole, and speaker....and nothing else.
She turned back, where the pieces of her face and the motherboard were integrating. The motherboard was folding into a cylinder, the sensory organs she'd lost sinking into it. It was beginning to look more like a head, which she was momentarily amazed by.
The LCD screen floating in the air buzzed toward her head, pressing into her face like a mask. But instead of the screen conforming to the shape of her face, it felt like her face was flowing into the back of the screen. A quick look back to the mirror showed skin flowing around the screen, camera, and microphone, forming a bezel.
While her head was becoming more angular, the motherboard was developing a more rounder look. The surface of it was a mix of gold, silver, and other metallic colors, patterns that looked a lot like a circuit board.
"Can you understand me?" She asked...hearing her voice sounding more artificial and echoey. She didn't get a response. But, it didn't seem like things were stopping at that...and part of her, while a bit scared...knew this is was what she had chosen and couldn't stop it.
