"First, let me show you where you'll be staying," Tonya says. She gets up off the couch and walks away. Leah follows. To her horror, they walk into the nursery for Tonya's baby brother.
"You're kidding," Leah says flatly. Tonya crosses her arms.
"I don't like the idea any more than you do. But this is the best option. This room has a changing station, so I can change you during the night and in the morning without you waddling around in a *poopy diaper*."
Leah feels her knees bend into a squat. She begins to push.
"Also, I don't know what sort of things you might interpret in what way," Tonya continues, not noticing Leah filling her diaper. "I'm worried I might say something or you hear something on the TV that makes you sleeping on the couch or floor unsafe. What if *you can't get off and on furniture without help*?"
"Tonya...stop...talking," Leah grunts. Tonya finally sees Leah squatted on the floor, her face red with effort as she pushes poop into her diaper.
"Oh, no! I didn't mean- want me to say the reverse command?"
"Don't bother. I'm almost done already." Leah grunts, pushing one final time. The thick log pinches off. "I guess we'll get that changing station broken in."
"I got you, girl!" Tonya picks Leah up and places her on the changing station. Leah stares up at the ceiling as her diaper gets changed.
"And I think you accidentally made me not able to get on and off furniture on my own, so the crib is definitely a good idea," Leah says.
"Dangit! Here, I'll get rid of it. Be a big girl!" Tonya says. Leah feels some coordination return to her body. But she can tell it won't stay.
"Thanks. But with how easily you did that and got me to poop my pants, I still think you were right to put me in here." Leah can't help the sadness in her voice.
"What's wrong?"
"I just... I was hoping we'd sleep in the same room like we usually do for sleepovers."
"Oh, well..."
