While Jenny thought about it on his bed, Jeff scrolled through the option available to them. “How about some mental changes?” Jeff took a shot in the dark.
“Mental changes? Like, change the way we think?” Jenny looked at him with a confused tilt that Jeff found cute.
“Yeah, there’s a whole package for it.” Jenny peered at the screen from behind him, and they read the description together.

The whole description felt like a scam, but the concept still seemed interesting. Jeff asked if she was interested, he wasn’t willing to go through with this if Jenny wasn’t on board.
“I guess this could be fun just to try it out. What did you have in mind?”
Jeff surfed through the options and found a custom change creator. He typed out a few ideas then told Jenny, “This will make you think I’m your partner on a project instead of your boyfriend for the next five minutes.”
“Oh?”
“If you still think we’re together, then we know this whole thing was a scam.”
“Alright, sure. Why not?” Jenny clearly had some apprehension, but she still wasn’t convinced this was real. Jeff pressed enter and waited for something to change.
He watched Jenny for a moment, but nothing happened. “Did it work?”
“Did what work?” she asked. Jeff shook his head, realizing that she may have just forgotten what they were doing. She didn’t seem all that interested in the first place.
She started sifting through papers on his desk, like she was looking for something important. He let her continue for a couple minutes, until Jeff decided he needed a test to be certain. He used his finger to lift her chin up, then tried to kiss her. He pressed his lips into hers, like they had done countless times, only to find her not reciprocating at all. Instead, Jenny pushed him off.
“Hey, CREEP! What do you think you’re doing?” Jeff heart raced with excitement. The machine had worked. “If I knew you were going to try something like that, I wouldn’t have agreed to do our history project together.”
She shot him a disgusted look, and picked up to leave. She started out his room and climbed down the stairs. Jeff chased after her, grabbing her arm before she could get to the door “Let go of me!” she yelled. Before either could say anything else, her mind returned to normal.
“Woah, how did we get downstairs?”
“Jenny, it works.”
“Seriously!?” Jenny suddenly had a look of excitement. The wheels in her head turned as she realized the implications “We could do so much with this. Jeff, let’s do something crazy.”
“Crazy, what did you have in mind?”
“Oh no, I want you to decide. Just pick something and let’s see how far this can go.” It was Jeff’s turn to feel apprehension. “Jeff, anything is now possible. Our futures can be whatever we want. Now is the time for fun. So, just pick something and let’s see how much fun we can have.”
They walked back to the Chronivac, and Jeff considered all the things he could do to Jenny’s mind. He even considered all the other minds in the world he could change. The world really was his oyster.
