Transform or Dare?

The new reality is slowly rewriting Jennifer's memories

Three loud bangs awoke Jennifer from her slumber as her mother swung the door open. Sylvia asked why Jennifer was still sleeping on the bed. The bus was going to be at their doorstep at any moment. Jennifer gasped and tried to find something to wear but still couldn't find any. She asked from her mother where they kept all their clothes saying that she couldn't go to school looking like this. Sylvia lifted her head as if she had never thought about it and run downstairs to pick-up something. Her mother threw her a pile of clothes inside a clear plastic bag that smelled fresh and store-bought. Jennifer apologized and lied to her mother that she was searching them earlier. Sylvia shook her head and accepted the apology.

Then as Jennifer went back into the bathroom to take a quick shower. She noticed that her hand was covered in odd smelling liquid. She had no time to inspect what was in it as she had to wash it off quickly. The water was lukewarm at best or maybe hint colder than usual but she didn't care. Inside the pouring shower rain Jennifer has a moment to think. She had just woken up but something still felt off about all this. Why was she washing and scrubbing herself anyway. The idea of her showering came out of nowhere as she used her mother's scented vanilla barsoap to cleanse her body. As she still had time she looked at the pile of make-up and other sorts of beauty products her mother had on the bathroom sink. The thought of her mother being now year younger than yesterday made her shiver as she couldn't comprehend her mother being either a college junior, senior or even a graduate while Jennifer was going to middle school. The memories of her mother was distorted and hard to remember as the age gap had slimmed down even further. Jennifer pressed her stomach lightly and hoped that she had only eaten heavier than normally as imaging herself... ugh... she didn't want to even think about it.

In less than minute she was ready and was drying herself on her mother's towel. Next in the list she put on the fresh smelling clean clothes which was perfect fit for her. At the kitchen she grabbed her mother's premade small piece of dry loaf wrapped in plastic wrapping. Jennifer hugged her mother, thanked her and run to the front door while stuffing the loaf inside her school bag.

Outside the bus was already waiting for her. She was the last one to hop inside the bus. On it's steps she apologized profusely to the bus driver that they had to wait for her. Jennifer took a seat on the backend of the bus near the window seat and begun to daydream as the bus contined it's path towards the school. Jennifer thought about how odd it felt for her to go to school like this. Was it even normal for her to have her clothes wrapped in plastic bag. Jennifer's memories were so skewered that she had no idea what she should trust anymore. Everything felt like a never-ending dream at this point. Too many question sturred inside Jennifer's mind as she continued her daydreaming.
