Swapping Sleep and Death

added by ASCII A month ago O Mental

One way or another, Jeff knew one this was for certain. He would have to do something with Jenny’s family, and soon before they started wondering why she was gone so long. So, Jeff did the only thing he could. He loaded her body into the passenger seat of his car and drove to Jenny’s house. Parking out front. Jeff had only one option. He opened his laptop and pulled up the emotion swapper. He had to do something before they caught him red handed with a dead body in his car.

On both sides, he typed ‘Everyone’. Then in the left box typed ‘Jenny is asleep’, and in the right box typed ‘Jenny is dead’, and pressed swap. Then he hopped out of the car, and walked around to pick up Jenny. He bridal carried her body all the way to the door. Her head slumped on his arm as though she was just resting on his shoulder. Her body was still warm, as though she was still alive.

He knocked on the door and Jenny’s older sister, Katie answered, she looks just like Jenny. Same fiery red hair, same piercing green eyes, but a little bit older, and obviously still alive. She asked if Jenny was dead, so casually that it took Jeff by surprise. He raised his eyebrows while she examined Jenny’s face.

As if confirming something, Jeff nodded and she cooed at her little sister’s corpse.

“Aw, that’s so cute. I wish I had a boyfriend who would kill me.” That line was disturbing to say the least, he just hoped it wouldn’t have any major effects on the world, and how people treat death and love.

She invited Jeff in and he walked into the living room, where he found Jenny’s mom waiting for him. After placing Jenny’s body on the couch, Jeff was instructed to take a seat. Jenny’s sister joined them and they began the ever so common ‘talk with the family’ trope.

Jenny’s mom asked Jeff, “So, did the two of you have fun?”

Jeff nervously chuckled, “Oh yes Ma’am, right to the bitter end.”

Katie stifled a laugh, but her mom was unamused. Jeff felt like the air was thick, but the two ladies clearly didn’t see it.

He gulps at her stern face, “So, what do you plan to do with Jenny?” he gestures toward her still corpse.

“Well, we’ll have to call the coroner in the morning. In the meantime, we will have to put her in her bed.”

“So, you’re not upset she’s dead.”

Jenny’s mom crooks an eyebrow, “Of course not, killing her might have been the nicest thing you could have done for us. Think about how much money we’ll save on food, and clothes, and utilities with one less person.”

Katie chimes in, “Plus that’s more money to pay for my college. So yeah, thanks Jeff.”

Jeff figured this was for the best, but he still felt bad, like he wasted a perfectly good girlfriend. He considered the Chronivac that he left in his car and stands to excuse himself. He tells the two ladies that he left something of Jenny’s in his car and offers to go grab it. Hopping up he rushes out to the car and opens the Emotion Swap Package.
