“You can’t be serious Mistress.” You huff a bit, more out of lack of desire than out of any serious resistance. “I thought you said that the technology to convert me was rare! I don’t want a MAR-2 so soon!” …it’s funny how that makes you so much more angry than the prospect of abducting humans. It’s not really funny but you sort of have to laugh because otherwise you’d cry inside.
Carl chuckles and shrugs, muttering something about how mindwiping would solve all of this as your Mistress hushes him off. “We’re not getting them for us, we’re getting them for Carl. He’s got his hands on a good number more conversion pods of varying types since that’s his job. He gets the pods, finds people like me to ‘get’ sapients either on the planets it’s legal or other means, and bam! New robot that Carl tunes up for his clients. Given how quick you took, we’ll go to your world, abduct a few people, and go from there. They might not even need any mindwipes or anything; at least not full ones.”
Oh! It’s a job! For Mistress’s friend! You want to object, again, but you can’t really find the moral outrage to and instead just nod, even at the prospect of mind-wiping. Such is the life of a robot, you suppose. “Okay Mistress! I’m ready!” you chirp out, outward perk hiding your inward lack of comfort that’s already significantly less present than you had hoped. Even more, since Mistress ordered it, you can’t even really be huffy and pouty and angry. You wish you could but that’s not part of you now; you’re cheerful and chipper when she orders something!
The next hour is spent loading and securing eight conversion units of different manufacture. You're pleased with how much you can lift and how responsive the various cargo drones are after you've connected to them and have given them orders. As each gets stowed, you internally catalog them, and soon you look over a cargo bay with eight conversion tools;
1. There’s one that’s clearly your make and but not model. From experience you can tell it will take about three standard weeks since it’s an older version. Not entirely sure how you know that but you’ll take it as a quirk of your programming.
2. One large pod like yours made of some sleek dark metal. It looks like an extra large version of your pod and has a label on which says it comes from Rapatrax Robotics and has a required occupancy of two sapients of the same species.
3. A heavily armored insectoid suit with eight legs made of dull grey metal, two arms out front, and a large thorax and membranous wings. It lacks an upper torso and a head, with a great hole where a person could go.
4. A sleek pair of discs and a full face visor wrapping around the head with a shiny futuristic looking white bodysuit made of some rubbery material covering everything but the face with several large crates that you know contain nano-material.
5. A massive black sarcophagus lined with glowing purple that’s the heaviest to lift and gives you bad vibes. It has dozens of closed eyes all over it and you can tell that it’s not meant for you. Something tells you that this pod is sapient in a way that the others aren’t.
6. A three foot by three foot by three foot cube, utterly unmarred except by thousands of tracer lines covering its surface in random patterns. It’s made out of a gleaming white plastic and its lines are a pleasing glowing blue. It floats faintly and feels easy to push.
7. What looks like a cockpit or a full bore flight simulator; fully enclosed like a cockpit and floating on an anti-grav mechanism, it’s made of gleaming white plastic with glowing blue lines looking suitably futuristic. There’s no obvious way to get in as of yet.
8. A single reasonably heavy box, unassuming grey, large enough to fit an adult human curled up, warnings and disclaimers all over it indicating that the effects are permanent and to check your planetary consent laws and obtain all legal approvals before starting the process.
With that done, you've soon left the station, making a course towards Earth. Once your job is complete in that regard, your curiosity gets the better of you; “I recognize one of those Mistress, it’s a similar model to mine. But do you know what the others are?”
“Mmmhmmm." Mistress Lisa sounding satisfied. "Got all the details." She speaks as if remembering what Carl told her. "One of them is an older surplus Federation Omniguard Digitation System, like you were converted on but three generations ago and mostly legal to own. The big black one is a Rapatrax Robotics Dualstar Space Superiority unit. They’re top of the line space robots and hard to get but still legal-ish and available on the civilian market. You're a bit better since you're top of the line military. Needs two people to make it too; they end synced and become more and more identical. We’ve also got an Explorer Society Walking Environmental Assembler Vehicle; Emotionally Responsive, or WEAVER unit, which needs the right sort of people to pilot it since you're basically alone for long long periods of time; that’s the spider. The bodysuit and visor is a Perazant 'Doppelganger’ central domestic hub; think running all the robots in a large estate so a super maid with some duplication powers with the right nanite material. We’ve got a Zoltri Sarcophagus, which basically results in the person locked inside becoming a new Eye of Zoltri, or uh, think one of the many scouts and eyes of an alien robotic super-intelligence looking to catalog ***ALL*** the things. The cube is a Sungold Supercore, which is uh, think a system that runs huge factories or starships; they’re not mobile or like anything living in the slightest so it's a pretty big adjustment if you’re a sapient. The other white shiny one is a Sungold Battlecore; they’re designed to turn a sapient into the core of a giant space or ground asset so becoming a giant robot or space fighter basically. The last box is a ‘Flexigon ‘True Companion’ Joytoy’; basically it’s a super expensive nanite compound that’ll make a sapient into a horny shape changing sexbot for good with all sorts of even more expensive upgrade options. I think the kit we’ve got is a super deluxe one and lemme tell you, they’re something else~. Maybe Carl'll let me test 'em out.” Lisa fans herself at the memory, prompting a flash of jealousy in you that you’re not equipped to give her that.
You suppress it and give a noncommittal robotic beep-boop at it all. “And we stick humans inside or whatever and then what?” There, turning people into robot slaves, a much more enjoyable topic than you not being able to serve your Mistress in all ways. Being a robot is weird, man.
“Carl said each of ‘em has the right programming to make sure they won’t do anything stupid. The Zoltri’s just going to be curious then fly off once they’re complete, and the rest we can just shut down worst case. I know for most of these Carl plans on selling off since these are his personal stock. The Zoltri’s a job though; it gives out those sarcophagi to established vendors every rare bit I guess and they get a bounty every time they offload one and every time they take one on. It’s good work, but hard to find.”
That prompts another beep boop. “And what I do is…” trailing off. “Just monitor and assist?”
“And see how people are reacting to their programming. Carl is notorious for needing higher mental correction settings than normal because he wants to rush it but I think he’s laid off this time given how quick you took. I told him not to with you and it worked in half the time it normally would, even with a mindwipe, heeee~.” A lizard-shrug, “I’m double glad I didn’t do that, cause I love my Mari the way she is and you’re so much better than a personality shell being built out. You're a friend and companion, not just a tool~” She finds your robody and hugs it despite you being in the Bravescale too.
The hug helps you not dwell on how easily your mind can be modified and how happy being called a tool made you as you settle into the exceedingly enjoyable routine of traveling through space and serving your Mistress while doing so. It’s this state of domestic robotic bliss that persists through the two-week long trip until you arrive at Earth and find…
