Leah stared at the stroller her best friend pushed in with a conflicted look. On one hand, she wasn't super stoked on the idea that she couldn't move properly anymore. On the other other hand, the idea that she was so little she had to be toted around every where was super cute; she no longer had to strain her tiny legs to get to class on time, instead she could cozy up in a stroller to nap between periods. Then, she felt guilty that Tonya would be forced to deal with that instead, and it made it a lot less fun. As much as Leah was enjoying her new baby treatment (and wanted to become maybe even a little more infantile), she wasn't fond of the idea that her relationship with Tonya would now be even more once sided.
Leah huffed behind her pacifier, grabbing her back pack as she decided she didn't have a choice; she was starting to realize that Tina almost always had babies on the brain, and that any conversation with her will almost always result in more warps. Tonya, on the other hand, is significantly more reasonable. At least, she should be.
Leah paused as a horrid thought occurred: is her relationship with Tonya still the same? With how much the universe was changing, the circumstances around them are now completely different. Leah and Tonya were friends since pre-school, so how would it have worked out if Leah never really moved past that? Sure, Leah from before was short and a little underdeveloped, but she wasn't a diaper wearing, thumb sucking, milk drinking teenage baby; regardless of how close they were, there's no way their relationship came out unscathed. She suddenly felt herself get shy as she approached, uncertainty tainting her mind.
"Hi Tonya." Leah whispered as she hugged her plushie close to her chest. Tonya gave a friendly wave, not really acting any different in any significant way; so far, Leah had no idea. She 'eep'ed as she was lifted into the girl's arms, cradled gently into the crooked of Tonya's elbow.
"Ready to go?" She asked, once again in a frustratingly neutral friendly tone. Leah nodded reluctantly, prompting Tonya to gently tuck Leah into the stroller. It was a nice one, that made her feel immediately warm and cozy---she could imagine herself falling asleep, but her nerves kept her from even feeling remotely drowsy.
"Heading out."
"Bring her back safe, Tonya! You know she-"
"I got it, bye Tina!" Tonya interjected, moving out the door before Tina could even get in another word. Leah felt herself feeling relieved, glad that Tina didn't warp reality again; that, at the very least, felt like old Tonya. Still, Leah couldn't be sure. As the (slightly) older girl pushed Leah towards her car, Leah finally built up the courage to ask.
"Hey, Tonya?"
"Hm?" The stroller stopped, and a moment later Tonya pulled the hood back so she could see Leah, "What is it, Leah?"
"Are, uh..." Leah gulped, nervous getting the best of her, "We're still best friends, right?"
Tonya looked genuinely surprised before answering...
