“I… I have to leave the restaurant!” Jacob thought and he raced down the hall and to the door leading to the dining area. In his mind, Jacob assumed that whatever was happening was only occurring within the restaurant. Therefore, leaving would equal safety. Or so he hoped.
Jacob slammed the door wide open and dashed toward the entrance door. There weren’t many customers at the moment, only a few eating at a booth or table, so he knew he should be safe if he just ran for the door. Which is exactly what he did.
“Jacob, where the hell are you going!?” Lisa yelled behind him as he sprinted to the doors. Jacob didn’t bother responding. He was getting out of here.
The transparent glass allowed Jacob to see that nobody was outside the restaurant nor about to enter it. Feeling fortunate, Jacob carelessly missed a backpack lying in front of him, and just as luck would have it, his right foot tripped on it.
Jacob slipped and fell forward and landed on his stomach. As a result of his torso hitting the ground, a loud bam ricocheted throughout the restaurant, grabbing everyone’s attention.
“Ow!” Jacob exclaimed as he felt slight pain exhibiting from his stomach. Nothing felt broken, probably due to the fact that the dining room was carpeted, but he still felt a soreness in his stomach; after all, it had taken most of the fall for him.
Suddenly, Jacob’s felt a hand land on his shoulder before hearing someone ask “Are you alright?”
Jacob’s eyes widened as he jerked his head back to see who had so graciously offered him their assistance while unfortunately offering their influence on his transformation.
