Lucy paused for a moment, internally debating. She knew she should tell Jennifer what she did. Ease the other girl's fears, and she was about to, but... At the same time, even if it wasn't Jennifer herself who did it, Jennifer was still, in a way, the creep who caused this. And if Jeff was still in there? Giving him false hope of regaining his own life seemed worth letting her keep some of those fears.
And so, she decided to keep it a secret, but still eased some of the girl's fears without subtracting from it. "But even still..." She started. "You're still you, right? Not the creep who fabricated all of this." A smile crept onto her face. "And, our friendship is still genuine, right? Jeff and Alan might've fabricated your relationship with Diana, as well as Felicity's for Natalie, but everything you've done since was your own choice."
"But how do I know that?" She asked, some tears forming in her eyes. "How do I know Jeff didn't... design me to form these bonds? Make these decisions? How do I know he's not-"
"Stop." Lucy interrupted. "You said he doesn't want you to tell me this. But you did it anyway." She pointed out. "This conversation is a result of you going against him. If he was making your choices for you, then we wouldn't be here, because you'd be doing what he wants. Us being here right now is proof that you're your own person."
Jennifer looked at her former sister, mouth hanging open for a moment. "Y-You... You really mean that?" She asks. At Lucy's nod, she rushed forward, embracing the other girl in a tight hug, her tears clouding her eyes. "Th-Thank you... I... I-I really needed that..."
Lucy returned it, feeling slightly guilty at what she was keeping from her friend, but banished those thoughts, knowing she had a good reason. Patting the other girl's back, "You're welcome." And after a slight pause, she added, "Do you... need a minute? I can sit here if you need it."
