As the pregnancy wore on, Andi could do less and less. Of course, what counted as "doing" for her was limited to embroidery, sewing, a bit of pastry-baking and learning how to manage a house and domain. She was getting lessons about all that thanks to a strict human teacher, a woman who had taught in convents and female schools. Granted her usual students were younger than Andi and came from more noble or rich families, but Julius paid well and she understood his situation. And Andi did not balk at learning how to be a lady of her domain, at least openly. Andi did a little painting too if she was lucky. Julius was always pleased with her progress, especially after he'd left the domain for a few days on a business trip and returned to see the house all set and clean and with no troubles. Drinking wine he explained what he'd planned for the babies, expanding on how he'd like sons but how girls could be useful too in securing good marriages and alliances. Either way, whatever the children wanted or were best at or for, he wanted them to get good educations. Andi simply nodded at that. She had learned that women in this world did not have the same opportunities as men, or it was a privilege reserved to few of them. Or it was in far-off lands.
