Helping Out

added by LittleBoy 3 days ago O

However, before Brian is able to decide what he wanted to have Max “investigate”, he hears the sound of running footsteps followed by someone yelling, “HALT! POLICE!”

Using the control he has over Max, Brian causes the “dog’s” head to turn towards the sound, that’s when he notices someone in all black sprint along the sidewalk on the other side of the road, behind the black figure he then spots a cop chasing after the guy.

Suddenly a loud bang is heard and Brian watches as the cop ducks behind a car, “FUCK,” he then hears the cop yell.

Thinking quickly, Brian types a command into the app, and Max starts to run after the figure in black.

The black figure doesn’t notice the large canine closing in from behind, only when the canine jumps, hitting the figure in the back, the figure lets out a surprised yell, the gun flying from his hand and landing a few feet away as he lands hard on the pavement.

Looking up, the figure freezes when he sees the large canine standing over him, growling threateningly.

“FUCK OFF, DUMB MUTT,” the guy in all black yells, but the dog doesn’t budge and continues to growl threateningly at the man.

When Brian hears cautious and slow footsteps, he causes Max to change position, moving the dog to stand behind the figure’s head, “you better not move an inch,” Brian then hears the cop say, “turn around and hands on your back!”

The guy in black lets out a frustrated growl but obeys, looking up at the dog, who is still growling threateningly at him.

The cop, who had his gun drawn and trained on the guy on the ground, puts it back into the holster and takes out some handcuffs before slowly lowering himself to cuff the figure, keeping a close eye on the dog.

Once the cuffs are in place and the cop had pulled the guy to his feet, the dog immediately stops growling and takes on a more relaxed posture as it looks up at the two men.

None of them move, they just stare at each other, the cop slowly reaches to his belt, the dog doesn’t move, and takes his radio, “dispatch, this is officer Trevor,” the cop, Trevor, then says, “I’ve got the suspect, please send someone to my location. We’re at the north side of the central park”.

“Roger that, a vehicle is on its way,” a voice crackles through the radio, “great job, Trevor”.

Trevor looks down at the dog, he then smiles, “oh, I had… help,” he says.

“Help,” the voice asks, “from whom?”

Trevor chuckles, “from a stray,” he simply states.

“Really,” the voice asks, “where is the dog?”

“It’s standing right in front of me,” Trevor responds, “however, it doesn’t make a threatening impression, it’s just watching me and the suspect”.

“That’s… unusual,” the voice says.

“Yeah,” Trevor simply states.

The sound of sirens suddenly cuts through the night, the sound getting closer.

The cop smiles down at the dog, “thanks, buddy,” he says, “you’d make a fine police dog”.

The dog then turns and starts to walk away, just as a police vehicle pulls up, “Trevor, are you alright,” a female’s voice can be heard.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Trevor says, “thanks for asking, Mandy”.

“Where is the gun,” Mandy asks.

Brian hears the sound of a car door close and assumes that the cops have loaded the guy into the car.

“I don’t know,” Trevor says, “I had to take cover because he shot at me, luckily he missed. I then heard the suspect yell and when I looked around the car, I just saw the guy lying on the ground with a dog, I assume a stray, since it had no collar around its neck, standing over him, growling”.

Mandy listens intently, none of them noticing that the dog is still nearby, “what happened then,” Mandy asks.

“Well, when I approached, the dog moved to the side to allow me to do my work,” Trevor says.

“Wow, that sounds as if the dog must have had some training in taking down suspects”.

Trevor nods, “that’s what I thought too,” he says, “and honestly, it didn’t look like a stray, its fur was to clean, and it just didn’t act like a stray”.

Mandy opens her mouth to say something, when both suddenly hear a bark, both turn their heads and their eyes widen in surprise when they see the dog sitting next to the dropped gun of the suspect about 20 feet away.

Both slowly walk over, “that’s the gun,” Trevor says, then turns to Mandy, “bag and tag it”.

Mandy nods, taking out a plastic bag and puts on some gloves, keeping a close eye on the dog, the canine just sits there, panting.

The female cop straightens herself after bagging the gun, “what a smart dog,” she says, “I honestly doubt it’s a stray. Should we take it to a vets, just to check if it has a chip?”

Trevor nods, “we should,” he says, “and if its not chipped,” he adds, smiling, “I think he’d make a great addition to our K-9-unit”. The cop then crouches down, stretching out a hand, “hey buddy, you wanna come with us,” he then asks.
