Lisa and Dustin read the text of the Ty Rescue Plan window. It explained where to find a high-capacity SSD in his desk drawer, and said to plug that into the computer, then press the "continue" button. Lisa did that, and they watched as a progress bar slowly crept across the width of the window.
The window contents now changed. It said to unplug the SSD, press continue, and that a transformation would be made to the user. "Um, I wish that gave a bit more explanation about the transformation." Lisa unplugged the SSD, but ssid. "This makes me nervous, and frankly I'm already terrified."
"Just do it," Dustin said. "You know Ty would never hurt you, and if you don't like the transformation, you have the power to undo it."
"You're right," Lisa said, "and it's not like there's any choice." She clicked the button. "I felt something happen," she said, "but I have no idea what it was."
Dustin looked her over. "You don't look any different." Her upper body, neck to waist, was still an aquarium, filled with beautiful tropical fish. But his mentioning her appearance did make her realize that, since they'd become wrapped up in this emergency, he finally had stopped staring at her. She didn't mind the staring, and had told him so, but it was good to know that when something important was going on, he could switch his focus.
The window contents had changed again. "Hold the laptop and SSD, and teleport to JSF1."
"What's JSF1?" Dustin asked.
"Ty's space station and supercomputer," Lisa said. "I'm not sure I like where this is going, but apparently that transformation must have given me the ability to teleport. Before I do that, I'm going to call one of my parents, and tell them I'm going with Ty to Jupiter. I don't want to get grounded again."
"Saying you're going there with Ty seems a bit, um... sparing with the truth," Dustin said, "but we have to do it, and I'm going with you! I'll tell June the same thing." Dustin left the room, while Lisa called her mother on her cell phone. She got voice mail, so she left a message saying where she was going, but just to be certain, she called her father as well. He answered, and she gave the same story. He said it was fine, just to be back for dinner.
Dustin came back into the room, and said, "Mom says I can go."
"I'm not actually sure whether I can take you," Lisa said, "but I'll try. Based on the instructions, I think that what I'm touching will come with me. I'll hold the computer and SSD with one hand, and you hold my other hand." She picked up the computer, and put the SSD atop it, then reached out to Dustin, who took her hand.
"Here goes... everything," she said, and had there been anyone watching, they would have been startled to see the two vanish.
