As Amy searched aisle after aisle for Lina, she heard Lina calling for her. Her cat ears perked up and she quickly located her friend in an aisle with what looked like Halloween costumes. Lina tilted her head when she saw her hair, ears and tail.
"Where did you get those?" Lina aksed. "They look almost real."
"Do they, now?" Amy smirked, deciding to wait and see how long it took Lina to realize just how real they were. Looking over the costumes surrounding them, Amy noticed a pair of cat gloves and slippers. They were black fabric with thick, furry gray fringes that seemed to match her tail and hair's gray perfectly. "Hey, that's exactly what I need!" She snatched up the slippers and kicked off her own shoes.
"What made you decide to dress up as a cat all of a sudden?" Lina asked as Amy slipped on one of the fake paws on her foot.
"Well, I own a cat, right?" Amy said. She put the other foot on and then donned the left-hand glove. The paws weren't cartoony in porportion, rather they looked very anatomically correct. Her fingers felt a little cramped in the stubby clawed ends of the glove, but it felt soft and warm inside. "Here, can you put the other one on for me?" She gave Lina the other glove and held her right arm out. The gloves, being perfect representations of cat paws, had no thumbs to speak of. Lina sighed and slipped the paw on Amy's hand. Amy batted the two "hands" together and swiped at the air with them, giggling.
"Are you finished?" Lina asked, "or do you want to get some fake fangs while you're at it?"
"We'll see," Amy said seriously. She wasn't sure what else the store had to offer in the way of changing her into a cat, but the thought of a real fur coat sent a chill up her spine. Maybe they gave hair implant surgery.
As the girls walked down the aisle toward the check-out, Amy tried walking on all fours. She found it remarkably easy, especially when she had her tail to assist her. Lina gave her a worried look, probably considering her sanity, but said nothing. Amy got back to her feet and tried removing her gloves to see if there was a price tag on the inside.
"Can you help me get this off?" she asked Lina. Lina grabbed the furry fringe of one glove and pulled. This caused a great deal of pain to shoot up Amy's arm. "OW!"
"Sorry, did I pinch the skin?" Lina asked. "I can't seem to find the edge of this thing..." But the pain Amy felt wasn't pinched skin. It felt like the hair Lina had pulled was sticking out of her arm. A bad feeling came over her. "This is weird," Lina continued. "I can't get my fingers under this fur..." Then she gasped when she looked closely and saw the gray fur was indeed attached to Amy's wrist. She looked back up at Amy, looking at her fuzzy ears moving up and down. "Amy?"
Amy blushed. "Um...yeah," Amy said. "They're real. And I guess the gloves are, now, too." She lifted her right "paw" and tried flexing her fingers. The small stubs of fingers shifted around, and white claws popped out of them. "Woah."
