"Have you found anything yet?" Lina asked, peering around the store. "Because...this is really starting...to hurt." She tried to pull her very tight shirt off of her, but only succeeded in making it rip slightly up the middle. "Ah...that's a little better." She continued to tear it up, stopping where her cleavage would have been if it weren't for the blue collar draining it away to Amy.
"I think I've got something," Amy said. She hopped off the chair and gasped. She hadn't noticed that, in all this time reading through the book, the height difference between the two had increased by a foot and a half. Amy was close to three feet now, and her shirt hung so low on her it went past her knees. Its was loosely draped over one of her shoulders. She marched barefoot toward an aisle. "Come on, it's this way."
Lina followed and quickly caught up with her. The leashes' lengths no longer afforded them room to move apart from each other, since between their necks and wrists the distance was much more a matter of height. It took a while to get there. Amy felt she was walking half a mile. "You know," Lina said. "I could carry you if that would make it faster."
Amy stopped and craned her neck at her friend. The idea of being carted around by this giant was both scary and exciting. She nodded, and Lina scooped her up with both of her hands. "It's at the end of this aisle according to the book," Amy directed. As Lina walked, Amy realized she was taller than the aisles around her, and was just a couple feet from hitting the ceiling. Then she remembered that it would be her own couple of feet that she would be losing, taking her down to a single, tiny foot. Lina's hands carried her gently, and Amy's attitude toward her changed drastically from before when Lina had done nothing but berate Amy and showcase her own tall figure.
"What are we looking for?" Lina asked.
"It's a special eraser. According to that book, it's supposed to make whatever it touches disappear."
"Uh, wouldn't that include us?"
"No, it's specially enchanted not to work on anything living. I think that's it!"
From Amy's vantage point she could see it on the highest shelf, placed firmly within the branches of a banzai tree. "Clever," she thought. It was a bit larger than a normal eraser, and didn't look rubbery at all. It appeared more like polished rectangular stone. Runes were etched into it.
Lina placed Amy down on the floor and picked up the stone. "Okay," she said before taking a deep breath and touching it to her collar. In the blink of an eye, the collar and leash were gone. Amy did a double-take. It disappeared so fast she thought she had imagined it. Lina touched the black leash with the stone and it too popped out of existence. Amy felt her neck, touching bare skin and nothing more.
"We did it!" she shouted, jumping happily. This caused her shirt's collar to fall even farther down her arm, exposing a very large, bouncy breast. She gasped and quickly brought the shirt back up to her shoulder, where it hung loosely, threatening to slip again. Lina shot her a scornful look, understandably jealous of what she had gained.
"So that's one problem solved," Lina said, pulling out the tape measure again. She found that she had stopped growing at an even eight feet, while Amy stopped shrinking at two-feet-ten. "Now we just need to find something to reverse the changes."
